Astro-Update: Pluto Retrograde! Week of 3/29/09

Happy Spring! I hope this post finds you well. The beginning part of this week will be more “quiet” than the later part. There will be several planetary transits Thurs, Friday and Saturday that may create friction. The tension will be exacerbated when the dwarf planet Pluto, goes Retrograde. People who are sensitive may start to “feel” this early this week. The most beneficial transit will occur on Sat morning when Mercury Sextiles Jupiter.

I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than other planetary transits.

(Mon 3/30)- The Moon changes into chatty Gemini (exact at 9:36am EST). Good Gemini Moon activities are: communication (including talking, emailing, faxing, writing, etc), working with your hands, interaction with others (especially siblings and teachers), learning something new, diversified interests, mental agility, inquisitiveness, travel, and reading. Things to avoid are: fickleness, information overload, starting to many things & not being able to finish them, hyper activity, talking too much, and indecisiveness. These are all themes that will last the next 2 ½ days……

The Moon makes an annoying quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 3:12pm EST). Quincunx’s usually present a blockage of some sort. In this case, it would produce difficulty with merging emotions and power. It may be harder to access the deeper side of ourselves or possibly present a situation with someone having power over us that may have difficulty understanding where we are coming from. The Moon will then make a positive sextile to Venus (R) in Aries (exact at 6:37pm EST) making us feel more loved a later in the afternoon. Lastly, the big event is when the Sun conjuncts planet Mercury both in Aries (exact at 11:29pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. This indicates lots of mental energy. This transit will highlight all of the traits of the Gemini Moon listed above, because Mercury is the natural ruler of Gemini. Great time for communicating & travel. Just make sure that you take time to give something sufficient thought, and don’t be too quick to judge until you know all the facts. Sometimes this placement can produce excessive sarcasm and changeability.

(Tues 3/30)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount ($25.00 per ½ hour). They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call me for a time.

The Moon makes several transits today. Mostly the “vibe” of today will favor mental energy over physical energy. The Moon will be making a positive sextile to both the Sun (exact at 3:50am EST) and Mercury (exact at 4:12am EST). This will just (positively) highlight the Sun/Mercury conjunction and continue these themes as we head into the day. The Moon will square Mars in Pisces (exact at 7:18am EST) possibly zapping some of our physical energy. This can also indicate an annoyance with others (although it will be temporary). Then, the Moon will make another annoying square to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 1:51pm EST) causing difficulties with organization and scatteredness. Sometimes this transit has a way of enhancing feelings of isolation or a feeling of being “passed over”. We will feel better when the Moon makes a flowing trine to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 5:59pm EST) assisting our optimism to return. This is a good time to reach out to friends and help others.

(Wed 4/1)- Happy April Fools Day!! I know this day is notorious for pranks and hoaxes, but I’m not sure the planets will make us so receptive. Us caution when picking your “victim”, as folks may be more sensitive today. The Moon will make an annoying square to Uranus in Pisces (exact at 1:48am EST) possibly causing disruption in our sleep or enhancing our dream-state. Then early in the morning the Moon makes a flowing trine to Neptune (exact at 5:03am EST). Let your imagination soar! You may find yourself daydreaming or feeling a bit fuzzy as we awake. It’s possible to have increased intuition or prophetic dreams at this time.

The Moon will start a void-of-course cycle between 5:03am EST until 12:30pm EST when it will transition into the sign of sensitive Cancer. When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out. Good Cancer Moon activities are: anything to do with home and family, cooking, maternal/mothering, being emotional, crafts, sensitivity, empathy, finances, savings, and care-taking. Things to avoid are: holding grudges, feeling slighted (possibly with little or no cause), over sensitivity, emotional eating, stubbornness, and being grumpy.

The Moon will oppose Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 6:06pm EST) making us feel even more sensitive. This is could even cause an argument with someone. I would wait for another day to have a deep discussion with someone because tension could be close to the surface. This could bring up work vs. family obligations. It won’t help when the Moon will then square Venus (R) in Aries (exact at 7:28pm EST). This could have us walking a fine line between approval/disapproval from others. Although it may give us the drive to be around friends & loved ones….just keep things light!

(Thurs 4/2)- There will be 5 lunar transits today and one planetary transit, making this a complicated day at best. Four out of the six transits will be unfavorable. In general, the day will consist of compromise. The key will be to balance when to take charge and when to go with the flow. The Moon will be making an annoying square to Mercury in Aries (exact at 3:46pm EST) interrupting our communication with others. Then the Moon will make a positive sextile to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 4:32pm EST) encouraging us to be conservative and helping us to stay organized. Both of these transits will be highlighting the stronger planetary transit when Mercury in Aries will quincunx Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 8:52pm EST). Communication could be interrupted or may not be compatible with long-term goals. This can create problems with authority (especially father-figures). Travel and communication may need several adjustments & flexibility. I would advise going with the flow today and no big movements. If at all possible, it would be better to re-organize and catch up on that stack of papers that need to be filed. This is not a favorable day to start a new project.

(Fri 4/3)- This is another astrologically complex day. There will be 4 lunar transits today and one planetary transit. Three out of the five transits will be unfavorable. We begin our day with the Moon being void of course between 4:59am EST until 3:32pm EST when it transitions into the sign of Leo. The big planetary transit will be when Venus (R) in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 6:22am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be much felt longer than a Moon transit. So, the Goddess of Love (and finance) is inharmonious with the planet that rules over secrets, fears and obsessions. Someone may be probing into our lives that we don’t necessarily want to share our secrets with (or conversely you could pry into someone else’s life). Be respectful of others personal space and have healthy boundaries with others. Something could be blocking our ability to express our passions. This can bring up fears of commitment & intimacy. If you have been infatuated with someone, you could find yourself obsessing over him/her. Remember, Venus is still retrograde and Pluto is about to go retrograde tomorrow, so it could be a former lover or someone from the past.

The Moon will transition into proud Leo (exact at 3:32pm EST). Good activities to do when the Moon is in Leo are: anything to do with performing or theater, seeing a show, dressing up & looking nice, managing, feeling proud, entrepreneurial endeavors, gambling, playing games, routing for the underdog and taking care of children. Things to avoid are being too bossy, acting egotistical, and going over the top. Later in the evening, the Moon will highlight the Venus/Pluto square by making a flowing trine with Venus (exact at 8:38pm EST) and making an annoying quincunx with Pluto (exact at 9:11pm EST). Again this is another day to lay low and keep things light. It may be hard because Pluto is anything but superficial, especially avoid being dragged into someone else’s drama!

(Sat 4/4)- Ahhhh, finally some good news! The last two days have been so heavy! Mercury in Aries will be making a positive sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 10:58am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt longer than a Moon transit. This will help us to make decisions and to be able to think more clearly & positively. Sextiles usually present opportunity, but require some effort on your part to have it come to fruition. All aspects of physicality, exercise, leadership, social endeavors, humanitarianism, and politics are favorable. This transit will make us feel very sociable and it’s a great day to go out into the world and be with friends, groups, and loved ones. The Moon in Leo will make a flowing trine the Sun in Aries (exact at 5:38pm EST). Enjoy the support from friends and family with this gift. This transit makes us feel loved and supported with no opposing energies.

Hold up! The Moon will make an annoying quincunx to Mars in Pisces (exact at 7:27pm EST). This may cause us to feel like we want or need to do more, but can’t for some reason. This can come in the form of a real or perceived block. Further, Mars will make its annual opposition to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 8:55pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt longer than a Moon transit. This is a time when your actions can go against the status quo. It is possible to (again) meet up with some sort of opposition or belligerence. Stifled anger can boil to the surface and be detrimental to long-term goals. Sometimes this can cause us to feel physically run-down….so don’t over do it in the morning when exercise was favorable! LOL If you overindulge in libations this evening-you will be sure to feel it more strongly!

Lastly, I want to discuss the “planet” Pluto in Capricorn going Retrograde today (exact at 1:33pm EST). Pluto is not a light-n-fluffy type of “planet”. Pluto (ruling “planet” of Scorpio) rules over: secrets, obsessions, adoption, power, transformation, forcefulness, intensity, restructuring, destruction, anarchy, sexual influences, and detective work. It’s associated with reproductive organs, rectum, obsessive behavior, prostate gland (root-chakra issues) and allergies. Pluto has been associated with Phoenix Rising, death/rebirth, etc. Powerful stuff! As you may remember, Pluto went into the sign of Capricorn at the end of November 2008. Pluto also rules over world leadership on a global level (not just the US), terrorism, nuclear-atomic energy, and bankruptcy. Capricorn rules over business endeavors, establishment, and structures. Many CEO’s and heads of companies were affected by this transition along with many people facing bankruptcy/foreclosure. This will signify a time where we now need to reflect on what just happened and if we handled things correctly. It is a slow moving planet and has been stationary for the later part of the week, with no movement at all. Wherever Pluto falls within your chart, will show where the transformation will take place on a personal level. Just remember, this time of transition was necessary. I use the analogy of a forest fire, out of the destruction comes nutrient rich soil and new growth…… It will remain Retrograde until Sept 11th, 2009.

Retrograde meaning: As all planets orbit around one another, they do so at different rates. Long ago Astronomers/Astrologers believed that the planets seemed to slow down and eventually reverse their orbit. This in fact, is an optical illusion caused by different orbit speeds, when viewed from Earth. This process is called a Retrograde in Astrology. In interpretation it means that the planet is somewhat weakened and the energies are harder to access.

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if you’re not into having a reading I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now…….

Astro-Update: New Moon in Aries! Week of 3/22/09

Happy Spring! I hope this post finds you well. Tuesday will be the quietest day of the week. Wednesday Mercury (communication & transportation) moves into pioneering Aries. While Thursday is what I call a “power day” with the New Moon in the sign of Aries. Saturday will be quite pleasant with thoughts of love!

(Sun 3/22)- We start the week off with Mercury conjuncting Uranus both in Pisces (exact at 1:02am EST). We will start feeling this from Sat until Monday. Make sure you write down ideas at this time, as information may come with lightening speed! This is an excellent time to talk with a mentor or receive a “lesson” from a teacher (it doesn’t have to be in a formal scholastic setting). Ideas, mental processes, writing, information, inventions, New Age ideologies, engineering, mathematics, and technology are all favored. For folks that are prone to anxiety or nervousness, this transit and exacerbate those tendencies. So work on grounding yourself!

The Moon is still in the sign of Aquarius and will make a positive sextile to Venus in Aries (retrograde) (exact at 3:18am EST). We may feel loving and possibly nostalgic in the morning. This is a good time to be around family and loved ones. In the afternoon Jupiter in Aquarius will make a challenging quincunx to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 12:46pm EST). Jupiter wants to expand and Saturn wants order. The challenge will be to retain enthusiasm with structure and perseverance. It may not be easy when someone or something wants to “rain on our parade”. This theme is further enhanced when the Moon quincunxes Saturn (exact at 4:27pm EST). However, it will start to be tempered when the Moon conjuncts positive Jupiter (exact at 4:32pm EST). Later in the day we will start to feel more jovial and this would be a good time to spend with friends.

(Mon 3/23)- We start off the day with the Moon conjuncting nebulous Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 8:09am EST). While both planets are in harmonies flow with one another, this transit can make us feel too dreamy & fuzzy. Creativity (especially with music), arts, spirituality, helping others, and nature are favored. However, for this transit to take place on Monday morning, possibly when we are going to work, plan accordingly because your head could be in the clouds. It will be easy to absorb other people’s emotions at this time. This will begin (at 8:10am EST) a long void of course cycle until 5:08pm EST when the Moon transitions into the sign of dreamy Pisces. (When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is called “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out.)

This afternoon the Sun in Aries will make an uncomfortable square to Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 2:35pm EST). This may signify problems with power, pure and simple. It could also present a time of wanting something deep but being faced with superficialness instead. Conversely, you may be wishing to keep things superficial and may encounter someone that finds your hot spots. These encounters will be temporary and will most likely resolve (or you will feel better about them) later in the day when the Moon makes a positive sextile to Pluto (exact at 11:22pm EST). Meanwhile the Moon will transition into dreamy Pisces (exact at 5:08pm EST). Activities that are favored during Moon in Pisces: creativity, intuition, spiritual aspirations, higher consciousness, connections with feelings, counseling, music, art, photography, nature and especially being near water, and charitable work. Things to avoid are: getting so caught up in others feeling that you put your aside, excessive escapism, and acting like a martyr. These are all themes that will last the next 2 ½ days……

(Tues 3/24)- This is an astrologically quiet day. I just wanted to mention that this moon phase (Pisces, 4th quarter) is also beneficial for planting bulbs, fishing and borrowing money. The Moon conjuncts Mars today both in Pisces (exact at 7:02am EST). All of the Pisces Moon themes apply. This will also feel energizing and will help us to feel healthy. Great time for exercise!

(Wed 3/25)- Some of you may remember me talking about the Saturn/Uranus opposition that has been occurring since November and will continue until July of 2010? One of my predictions was earthquakes, because it fugitively and literally means a “shake-up”. As well as it affecting costal areas and possibly producing a tsunami. Well, all 3 happened last Friday. An earthquake off the coast of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean, actually caused a volcano to erupt! Its magnitude was 7.9. The reason why I am bringing this up is that the Moon will highlight this opposition today. The Moon will be opposing Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 1:24am EST) and then will conjunct Uranus in Pisces (exact at 12:53pm EST). Get ready for some aftershocks! Saturn represents order and Uranus represents shocks and surprises. The key is to develop a new path using old systems as a base. In the case of our volcano, scientists are saying it is actually developing into a new island! The disruption literally clears the way for something new……

The Moon will start a long void-of-course cycle between 12:54pm until tomorrow at 1:03am EST.

Mercury (the God of Communication & Transportation) will move into the sign of Aries today at 3:55pm EST. Mercury is moving at a fairly good clip right now and will only be in this adventurous sign for the next two weeks (until 4/9). This will help our mental processes to speed up. As well as our driving-so watch your speed! Aries is known for being able to start many things, but isn’t great at finishing. Try to exorcise patience (it will be hard). This is a great time to start new projects!

(Thurs 3/26)- Power Day! It is said in astrology that either a New Moon or an Aries Moon are great times to start something new….well today we have both! Moon will transition into the sign of Aries (exact at 1:03am EST). It is considered to be a favorable time to start new projects, physical activities (like sports or working out), dynamism, leadership, competition, and action. Things to avoid are being too bossy, arrogant, and insensitive during the next 2/12 days. Aries rules the head, so pay attention to stress, especially of you are prone to tension headaches.

The reason why I am calling this a power day is because the Moon will conjunct 3 planets all in the sign of Aries today. Conjunctions are very powerful and can be harmonious or too much of a good thing. It will meet up with Mercury (exact at 2:36am EST) which will allow our ideas to be easily conveyed and understood earlier in the day. Then the Moon will meet up with the Sun (exact at 12:06pm EST), which will also be the height of the New Moon. Others will be willing to support our endeavors and we may receive recognition for our efforts. Lastly, the Moon will join Venus (R) (exact at 3:15pm) making us feel loving and romantic. We will appreciate beauty and pampering much more at this time (just watch over spending). Relationships will take on a dreamy quality and you will feel like that other person really “gets” you. This is a great day to start an exercise regimen!

The only bump-in-the-road will happen early when the Moon will square Pluto (exact at 6:58am EST) possibly causing some irritation or blockages, but I don’t feel that will last very long.

(Fri 3/27)- I have to say that this morning will be more difficult than the late afternoon/evening, so plan accordingly. The Moon in Aries will start by quincunxing Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 7:19am EST) making us feel unorganized or unprepared. Mercury in Aries will make an irritating square with obsessive Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 8:16am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt longer than a Moon transit. Secrets, obsessive thoughts, fears, paranoia, and power struggles can all be exacerbated by this transit. You may encounter someone that is under-handed. Although one may have deep thoughts at this time, it would not be a good time to share your thoughts with others. I would recommend journaling instead. Luckily the Moon makes a positive sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 9:38am EST) that will help to temper the previous transits negative effects. It will be a good time to work with others and group endeavors (just make sure you trust the people that you are working with).

The afternoon will improve when the Sun makes it’s annual conjunction with lovely Venus (R) both in Aries (exact at 3:24pm EST). Remember this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt longer than a Moon transit. This makes us enjoy beauty, the arts, aesthetics, and helps us to fall in love with love. This is a look good and feel good transit. Nice! Lastly, the Moon will make a positive sextile to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 10:17pm EST) which will further enhance the dreaminess of the Sun/Venus connection. If you are single today and meet someone new, it may be easy to get carried away with our feelings. Just remember that Mercury/Pluto square this morning….if it seems to good to be true, well you know the rest! The Moon will start a long void-of-course cycle from 10:17pm EST until tomorrow morning at 6:09am EST….

(Sat 3/28)- I will be doing free, mini-Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 12-6pm to help celebrate their annual “Gratitude Day”!! This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me. The spots fill up fast. They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call for a time (#802-660-8060).

The Moon transitions into stabile Taurus (exact at 6:09am EST). Positive Taurus Moon activities are: focusing on organizing your finances, clipping coupons, decorating, designing, sensuality, cooking & eating luscious foods, organizing your home, massage, singing, and comfort. Try to avoid: laziness, relaxing too much, stubbornness, obstinacy and being too stuck in your ways. The Moon will form a positive trine with Pluto (exact at 11:51am EST). It will be possible to have a deep connection with someone at this time. All aspects of healing, gardening, and counseling will also be favored at this time. This is a great time to start construction on your home, buy clothes or fix your car (Moon in Taurus, 1st quarter) during the next 2 ½ days. Lastly, Mercury conjuncts Venus (R) both in Aries (exact at 10:31pm EST). We may feel compelled to discuss love today (especially past lovers, don’t forget that Venus is still Retrograde!). This is a good time to have appraisals done, as we will know the value of both ourselves and our belongings! Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt longer than a Moon transit.

Bye for now……

Astro-Update: Sun in Aries/Spring Equinox! Week of 3/15/09

We have a lot to celebrate with Saint Patrick’s Day on Tuesday and the start of the Spring Equinox marking the entry of the Sun moving into the sign of Aries on Friday. The beginning of the week is mostly quiet but there will be some significant planetary transits on Wednesday and Thursday.

(Sun 3/15)- The week starts quietly with just a few Moon transits to keep us busy. Again Moon transits are not felt as strongly other planetary transits, unless you are what I call a “Moon-sensitive” person. During the early part of the day the Moon, still in Scorpio, makes a positive sextile to Saturn retrograde in Virgo (exact at 5:52am EST). All aspects of organization and being able to “get down to business” are favored. You may be asked to lend a helping hand to someone, but with this transit you won’t feel put upon and will happily oblige. In the afternoon the Moon makes a flowing trine to Uranus in Pisces (exact at 3:17pm EST) placing emphasis on computers, technology, and anything new or cutting edge. This is a night to relax and enjoy the company of loved ones as the Moon trines the Sun in Pisces (exact at 8:43pm EST) and makes us feel a little dreamy (and possibly unrealistic) just before when the Moon squares Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 7:43 pm EST). This is not a favorable time for business-plus it’s Sunday night anyway stop working (LOL)!! The Moon begins a long void-of-course cycle from 8:44pm until tomorrow morning at 5:21am……

When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is called “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out.

(Mon 3/16)- It is said in Astrology that the Moon transitioning from the sign of Scorpio into the sign of Sagittarius is the most stressful of all the moon transits. Luckily, this happens very early so hopefully you will sleep through it! The Moon transitions into the adventurous sign of Sagittarius (exact at 5:21am EST). Activities that are favored during Moon in Sagittarius are: sports, horseback riding, outdoors/nature, spiritual aspirations, higher consciousness, honesty/bluntness, law/legal, higher learning, education, travel, and getting out to meet people. It is best to avoid taking too strong of a stance and not being open to others opinions, as people will usually defend their beliefs rigorously at this time. The Moon only makes one aspect today when it uncomfortably squares Mars in Pisces (exact at 7:24am EST). The height of this aspect occurs in the morning, so use caution during your commute to work. This transit is usually felt as stress and irritation, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time and try to be patient with the kids, etc. Otherwise this is a quiet day!

(Tues 3/17)- Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!! This day is a mixed bag of Moon placements, again no major planetary action. Early in the morning the Moon in Sagittarius makes a flowing trine to Venus in Aries retrograde (exact at 7:12an EST) this will make us feel very lovey-dovey indeed and possibly a little nostalgic. Then the Moon makes a stressful square to Mercury in Pisces (exact at 10:39am EST) where communication with someone can feel strained. In the afternoon, the Moon makes a positive sextile to opulent Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 1:38pm EST) making us feel optimistic and jovial. This would be an excellent time to get together with friends and/or associates (just watch over-spending). Lastly, the Moon makes another stressful square to Saturn retrograde in Virgo (exact at 4:24pm EST). This can bring trouble with someone in authority (so watch drinking & driving-get a designated driver if you are celebrating). It can also indicate a sense of loneliness or isolation; luckily its duration is short. This is not an ideal time to plan or schedule a trip.

(Wed 3/18)- Overnight the Moon will square Uranus in Pisces (exact at 2:57am EST) possibly causing disruption with sleep and vivid dreams. We start the day with the Moon positively sextiling Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 7:32am EST). We have the ability to be very charming & get our way this morning and all aspects of creativity are favored. However, later in the afternoon the Moon will stressfully square the Sun (exact at 1:47pm EST) making us feel annoyed. Usually some sort of (temporary) blockage will occur that will cause a frustration (I feel it will be pertaining to business, since the Moon will be heading into the sign of Capricorn). This will begin a void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until the Moon transits into the sign of Capricorn at 5:18pm EST. So, don’t make any major decisions between 1:47pm-5:18pm. Activities that are favored during Moon in Capricorn are: business endeavors, work, goal setting, public ambition, and tradition. Try to avoid: workaholic tendencies, coldness, and using people for personal gain.

See tomorrow’s notes for influences that will be felt today through til Friday….

(Thurs 3/19)- There are two significant planetary transits that will be at their height during the very early morning hours on Thursday. The effects will be felt Wed, Thurs and maybe even Friday. First, just around midnight, Mercury in Pisces will oppose Saturn (retrograde) in Virgo. It will be hard to organize thoughts around this time. This can definitely affect communication with friends, siblings, and anyone in authority (including the law). If you have to do any kind of public speaking or need to communicate something of importance, make careful notes before hand (like maybe earlier in the week when the planets were a little more “quiet”). The same goes for traveling. This is not a “fly by the seat of your pants” type of transit, as that could cause disastrous results. I would not recommend having elective medical procedures done at this time either.

Just after, Mars in Pisces will sextile Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 2:15am EST). Sextiles are positive and usually present opportunity, but it will take some effort on your part to have it come to fruition. If you are goal oriented and really know yourself well, this could present an awesome opportunity coming your way. For folks that are wanderers, directionless, and really don’t know what they want from life, well, you will have a harder time with this transit. It is also possible to feel a strong need to change some area of life (most likely it will pertain to business with the association of Capricorn). This will also give us increased energy and possibly sex drive! All types of physical exercise are encouraged, especially dance, yoga, ice-skating, & martial arts. Careful not to over-do it, because this can create a “weekend warrior” type of syndrome.

Lastly, avoid intense conversations with loved ones & those in authority when the Moon makes an uncomfortable square to Venus retrograde in Aries (exact at 5:32pm EST). It is best to avoid big purchases and to wait until another day to redecorate your house.

(Fri 3/20)- Happy Spring Equinox! This is also International Astrologers Day. The Spring Equinox officially starts when the Sun travels into the 1st sign of the zodiac, Aries (exact at 7:43am EST). Many cultures and religions celebrate the spring equinox in a variety of different ways. The key word for this time of year is BALANCE! It’s interesting to me that we instinctively start to spring clean during this time. Using some principles of feng shui, this is an excellent to time remove dead energy from your space. This includes cleaning closets, getting rid of clutter, making sure that corners are free from debris, and getting rid of dead & dried flowers. Treat yourself to some fresh flowers, bulbs and seeds. This is a great time to start clearing leaves & branches from your garden or yard. Burn red or white candles in your home (Aries colors). Use fragrances that are: lavender, lilac, lily of the valley, geranium, ginger and honey suckle. When preparing meals concentrate on fresh vegetables, leafy greens, seeds, and sprouts. The Chinese consider the rabbit to represent the spring equinox, fertility and the beginning of a new life cycle. Adding a small rabbit figurine to an area of your house (like bedroom if you want to get pregnant, or a home office if you would like to bring change to your business, etc) would be beneficial. Lastly, I usually have a smudging ceremony (by burning white sage) in my home where I open all the doors and windows and I send out prayers to humanity. All of these things will increase your energy and help to clear mental “clutter”. Happy Spring!

Happy birthday to all you Aries out there! This is a pioneering sign and again is associated with new beginnings. Aries people are great at starting things but not so good at finishing. Aries is the 1st sign of the zodiac and is ruled by Mars (the God of War). Some words/phrases to describe Aries are: “I AM!”, Cardinal/Fire, passionate, head strong, adventurous, honest (often blunt), independent, enthusiastic, dynamic, selfish, courageous, energetic, enthusiastic, and easily bored. It rules over the head, face (not the nose), brain, eyes, upper jaw, fevers & inflammation. The metal is Iron. Stones: Amethyst, Diamond, and Bloodstone. All of these themes will be highlighted during the next month. There are now 2 planets in Aries the Sun and Venus (retrograde).

The Moon makes two beneficial sextiles today. The 1st is to Mercury in Pisces (exact at 10:13am EST) where all aspects of communication and travel are favored. The 2nd is to Uranus in Pisces (exact at 4:06pm EST) where all aspects of technology, science, surprises and unexpected events are favored. This will start a long void-of course Moon cycle that will last until tomorrow at 6:06am EST….

(Sat 3/21)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount ($25.00 per ½ hour). They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call me for a time.

The Moon moves into Aquarius (exact at 6:06am EST). Activities that are favored during Moon in Aquarius are: social endeavors, friendship, humanitarian efforts, politics, inventing, and New Age ideologies. Things to avoid: are getting too caught up in the greater good and masses that you forget the individual & their feelings, and being overly fixed in your own unique way of doing things that you can’t consider someone else’s good ideas. This is a quiet day where the Moon only makes one supportive sextile to the Sun in Aries (exact at 8:08am EST). This is a good time to spend with friends, family, loved ones. Everyone will be on the same page and you will feel comfortable in your own skin.

Stay posted for Sunday the 22nds entry when the planets start their shenanigans again!

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if your not into having a reading I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……

Astro-Update: Full Moon in Virgo! Week of 3/08/09

Happy Day Light Savings Time! This week two planets move into the dreamy sign of Pisces (Mercury on Monday and Mars on Saturday). As of Saturday, Pisces will be the dominant sign with a total of 4 planets in that sign. We are shifting away from Aquarius that was more concerned about the greater good. Pisces more is concerned with individuals and how they are feeling. Tuesday will be the Full Moon in Virgo with an emphasis on healing & organization. We are still dealing with Venus going Retrograde in the planet that influences both love and finances. Again, we should be taking this time to reflect on what works and what doesn’t pertaining to these areas until 4/17.

(Sun 3/8)- Day Light Savings-Time to Spring ahead! The Moon is still in proud Leo. We start off the day a little fuzzy with Mars conjuncting Neptune both in Aquarius (exact at 8:50am EST). This transit will make us crave more than just the normal day-to-day activities (which may feel more mundane than usual). On the positive, this is a great transit for creativity, art, film, photography, music, intuition, and abstract thinking. On the negative side, it can create problems with motivation and enhance escapism tendencies. This theme will be further enhanced when Mercury (ruler of communication, thought process and transportation) moves into dreamy Pisces (exact at 2:56pm EST). The planet Neptune is the natural ruler of the sign of Pisces.

A little later, the Sun in Pisces will oppose Saturn in Virgo (exact at 3:53pm EST) further aggravated by the Moon making an annoying quincunx to the Sun (exact at 4:06pm EST). This can lead to frustration with obtaining or pursuing goals. Someone in authority could stand in the way of something you want. Certainly having trouble with getting organized will be a problem. This transit can present a problem for folks with a predisposition to depression or feeling sorry for oneself. This is not a good day for work and would be better spent playing, meditating, cooking, getting out in nature (especially by water), napping, or really anything that allows your inner creativity to flourish.

(Mon 3/9)- There will be 3 Moon oppositions today. Oppositions are usually an area where adjusting and compromise are needed because the energies are opposing. In the very early morning the Moon in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 2:56am EST), that will continue yesterdays nebulous Neptune’s “fuzzy” theme. This can also produce some interesting dreams, so pay attention to what you dream about on this night. Then the Moon in Leo will oppose Mars in Aquarius (exact at 3:56am EST). This can indicate a situation where someone’s actions might hurt your feelings or cause irritation on Monday morning.

We start off the day with a void of course moon cycle between 3:57amEST until the Moon shifts into perfectionist sign of Virgo (exact at 11:34am EST). (When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out.) Words and phrases to describe Virgo are: “I Analyze!”, Mutable/Earth, detail oriented, perfection, service, criticism, conscientious, health, intelligent, analytical, worry, improvement to others lives, and practical. It is associated with the abdominal area, gastrointestinal system (large and small intestines), spleen, solar plexus, and lower lobes of the liver. All of these themes will be prominent in the next 2 &1/2 days. We will find ourselves having to make another comprise based on what some else says/thinks when the Moon in Virgo makes it’s 3rd opposition to Mercury in Pisces (exact at 2:10pm EST). The Moon does make one easier/flowing trine to Pluto in Capricorn later in the afternoon (exact at 4:49pm EST). It is possible that someone will come to you for advice and all aspects of counseling are favored. This transit helps to cut through red tape and gets to the bottom of things.

(Tues 3/10)- In the afternoon the Moon in Virgo will make two annoying quincunx’s; 1st will be to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 12:36pm EST) and the 2nd will be to Venus in Aries (exact at 1:10pm EST). These transits tell us to keep our expectations in check with regard to love and finances (wait for tomorrow for luck in those areas). Right after, Mercury in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 1:38pm EST) taking our analytical skills to an all time high. The possibility for cathartic, in-depth discussions is also favored. A little later, the Moon will conjunct Saturn in Virgo (exact at 6:26pm EST) making it possible for us to harness discipline and organizational skills. This is actually a favorable day to start a diet or health regime.

Lastly, the Full Moon will occur this evening! The Full Moon in March is called the Storm Moon because of the crazy weather that March is known for (it’s also called the Seed Moon, Moon of Winds or the Crow Moon). The height will be at 10:38pm EST and it will also oppose the Sun in Pisces at the same time. The Full Moon is not usually a time where you would want to start anything new, but is more of a time of reflection. It is considered to be a culmination of your efforts that you made since the last New Moon. There is often a lot of energy & intensity associated with the Full Moon. Because of the opposition with the Sun, it can make us feel a strange disconnect with our intuition. The lesson in this is to combine both intuition and logic to come up with an answer to our questions. All forms of healing are favored with this Full Moon!

(Wed 3/11)- Overnight the Moon will oppose Uranus (exact at 1:48am EST) possibly causing disruption with sleep and vivid dreams. The Moon will then be void of course until 2:46PM EST when it moves into the sign of diplomatic Libra. Words and phrases to describe Libra are: “I Balance!”, Cardinal/Air, fairness, beauty (did I say Beauty?), partnership, aesthetics, harmony, indecision, dependence, fickle, and gracious. Libras make great judges because they are often able to see both sides. Creativity in your life! Its physical associations are: the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands. All of these themes will be accentuated during the next 2 ½ days.

Before that though, Venus (retrograde) in Aries will make a positive sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 8:34am EST). The possibility of good fortune with both love and finances are the benefit of this transit! I don’t generally advise that people gamble, but if you were to, this would be the time to do it (and no, I am not responsible for loss-LOL). Good news coming from afar, romance, favorable legal dealings, and travel are also benefits to this transit. (Just remember, that because both the Moon is void-of course and Venus being Retrograde, I don’t want you to start anything new until after 2:46pm.) Later tonight and tomorrow morning keep discussion light, as this is not a beneficial time for major discussions, with a possibility that arguments may ensue.

(Thurs 3/12)- The Moon will quincunx Mercury just after midnight (exact at 12:24am EST) making it hard for us to express our feelings. We may also be overly sensitive and not be able to take criticism well. Later the Moon will oppose Venus (retrograde) in Aries (exact at 4:36pm EST). This is not a favorable time to shop, decorate, choose colors, get our hair styled, etc. We may pick out something we thought we liked and then later realize it was not that flattering. Right after, the Moon will make a flowing trine to Jupiter (exact at 5:40pm EST). While this generally makes us upbeat and optimistic, it can give us the propensity to over spend. Lastly, the Sun will conjunct Uranus in Pisces (exact at 9:27pm EST). We will feel the need to break out of our normal routines and do something different toady. Uranus is the planet of disruptions, surprises and unexpected events. Are you normally a rebel and buck against authority? This transit helps to make that easier, so that you won’t step on as many toes. Do something “crazy” that you normally wouldn’t do for yourself…..you have blessings from the planets!

(Fri 3/13)- We just had a Friday the 13th last month!?! Earlier in the day we may have some minor disruptions or annoyances because of the Libra Moon making an annoying quincunx with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 6:54am EST) and with the Sun (exact at 7:38 am EST). We should be feeling better when the Moon makes a flowing trine to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 11:14am EST). Although this placement can make us feel a little fuzzy, it will also enhance our intuition and love of romance. Just use caution with idealizing your object of affection too much. The Moon then makes another flowing trine to Mars in Aquarius (exact at 6:39pm EST). Your feelings and actions will be in-line with one another, making it possible to act on your feelings. This will also increase sociability. Hey, it’s Friday night-go hang out with your friends & acquaintances! Someone may lend a sympathetic ear to your problems. The Moon will be void of course from 6:39pm EST until 8:22pm EST when it then moves into intense Scorpio…….

(Sat 3/14)- Anything related to research, occult, detective work, self discovery, digging below the surface (both figural & literal), passion, mysteries, secrets, etc. are good to pursue during a Scorpio Moon. Things that are not favored or exacerbated during the Moon in Scorpio are: jealousy, anger, intensity, and surgery (it can delay healing time). Most of the Moon transits today will positively enhance the qualities of the Scorpio Moon. The only negative transit will be later when the Moon quincunxes Venus Retrograde (exact at 10:31pm EST), where we could experience some sort of obstacle with the object of our affection. We may even feel insecure about that persons affections being returned.

As I alluded to in this week’s intro, Mars in now moving into the sign of Pisces (exact at 11:20pm EST) where it will stay until April 22nd. There are now a total of 4 planets in the sign of Pisces. Mars is an action-oriented planet and is often associated with physicality, sex drive, who we are sexually attracted to, and ego. Activities associated with: arts, music, film, photography, solitude, helping the sick or downtrodden, charity work, giving, healing fields like nursing, nature/animals, being near or around water (as a friend pointed out to me plumbing problems-LOL), spirituality, ethereal pursuits, abstract thinking, communication, counseling, research, intuition and working behind the scenes. Some famous people with multiple placements of Pisces in their charts are: Albert Einstein, composer Maurice Ravel, Michelangelo, Elizabeth Taylor, Aidan Quinn, Glenn Close, Johnny Cash, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The negative side can be excessive solitude, escapism in all forms (including sleeping too much), alcoholism (bar tenders tend to have a lot of Pisces in their charts), depression, absorbing the pain of others, and being selfless to the point of others taking advantage of you. Again all of these themes will be felt more strongly during the next month……

Astro-Update: Venus Retrograde! Week of 3/01/09

If you live in the North East like I do, well Happy Snow Day! Hope this week finds you well. We have two exceptionally active Astrological Days this week, Wednesday and Friday…..

(Sun 3/1)- The Moon is still in stable Taurus. Mercury in Aquarius makes an annoying quincunx to Saturn in Virgo (exact at 7:56am EST). This may cause us to have trouble organizing our thoughts earlier in the day. Later, Mercury conjuncts Mars both in Aquarius (exact at 10:05pm EST) this will highlight media, arguing, computers, hyper conversation, etc. Watch what you say, because it may be perceived as being too aggressive.

(Mon 3/2)- Early in the day the Moon trines Saturn in Virgo (exact at 7:43am EST) making us start the day with the best of intentions and trying to be organized. But by mid-morning our patience is tried with two irritating squares; 1st Moon square Mars in Aquarius (exact at 10:02am EST) and Moon Square Mercury in Aquarius (exact at 10:42am EST). The 1st will make us feel as if someone is trying to control the situation. The second may actually result in someone cutting us off and not letting us communicate or we may not feel heard. The Moon then sextiles Uranus in Pisces (exact at 1:10pm EST) which may result in a surprise or shocking news. The last planetary rendezvous will be the Moon squaring nebulous Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 5:42pm EST). This transit makes us dreamy and unrealistic. It is advised to not sign contracts or to make important business decisions when Neptune is involved-just FYI.

When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out. The Moon will be void of course between 5:43pm-2:59am when it finally enters into communicative Gemini tomorrow morning.

(Tues 3/3)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount ($25.00 per 1/2 hour). They are located at 125 So. Winooski Ave., Burlington Vermont across from the Fire Station. Walk-ins are welcome or you can call to set up a time.

The Moon enters into Gemini (exact at 2:59am EST).

The Moon only aspects one planet today. It forms and annoying quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 8:11am EST). Quincunxes usually present a problem that we are supposed to learn from, usually in the form of an obstacle. On a personal level this may affect business & responsibility and a possible transformation that is taking place on that level. You may remember when Pluto switched into the sign of Capricorn this past November? It brought with it bankruptcies, crashing of stocks, corporate restructuring, etc. A transformation that is still playing out and hopefully we are learning from! Later in the day Mercury will conjunct The Wounded Healer- Chiron in the sign of Aquarius (exact at 9:09pm EST). We may feel that it is healing to talk with someone tonight (especially friends). All New Aged activities and holistic healing practices get a “thumbs up” tonight too!

(Wed 3/4)- The Moon makes contacts with 8 different planets today! At best, this will be a complex day. There is already a propensity to feel scattered with Moon in Gemini, which will only be enhanced with all this Moon activity. Luckily 5 (out of the 8) transits are positive, mostly coming from interaction with planets in the sign of Aquarius. The planets are equal in Fixed versus Mutable energies. Therefore, this is a day where it would be good to try something new, get out of your rut. Try a new approach to an old problem. If you are usually very structured then try going with the flow, and if you are too unstructured try creating a plan. The Moon will be void of course starting at 9:10 pm EST until tomorrow morning when it changes signs….

(Thurs 3/5)- The Moon enters the sign of sensitive Cancer (exact at 6:07am EST).

Early in the morning Mercury conjuncts Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 4:39am EST). Let your imagination soar! You may find yourself daydreaming or feeling a bit fuzzy. It’s possible to have increased intuition or prophetic dreams. Then the Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 11:16am EST). Someone may challenge you and this could lead to feeling emotional. This may be a good time for counseling or psychology because of the propensity to having deep insights into ones self. Later Mars will conjunct The Wounded Healer- Chiron (exact at 7:27pm EST). It’s possible that someone may tell you what to do that doesn’t know how to do it himself or you could do that to someone else. The example would be a baseball coach that never actually played baseball. This would be good for healing physical aliments or exercising.

(Fri 3/6)- This day is very similar to Wednesday. The Moon transits 7 planets. Only this time 4 of those will be negative transits. The same interplay will be happening with 3 planets being Fixed (stable, sometimes too rigid) and 3 planets being Mutable (easy going, flexible). Again this will be felt more strongly if you are sensitive to the Moons transits or have Cancer, Aquarius, or Pisces in your chart. Sensitivity may be at an all time high today with the Moon being in Cancer still

.

The big event that will be happening today is that Venus (the Goddess of Love) in Aries will be turning Retrograde (exact at 12:17pm EST) until April 17th! You know what it is like when Mercury goes Retrograde? Well this is like that, only pertaining to love & finances. Fun?!? This will bring up lessons that we are supposed to work on pertain to those areas. Venus Retrograde can certainly bring old flames back into the picture; with them contacting you or you contacting them or just simply running into to them at a random time. Just remember, and ex is an ex for a reason! For more info on Venus in Aries, please reference my Blog entry from Feb 5th, which goes into more detail. (Retrograde meaning: As all planets orbit around one another, they do so at different rates. Long ago Astronomers/Astrologers believed that the planets seemed to slow down and eventually reverse their orbit. This in fact, is an optical illusion caused by different orbit speeds, when viewed from Earth. This process is called a Retrograde in Astrology. In interpretation it means that the planet is somewhat weakened and the energies are harder to access)

The Moon will be void of course from 7:29pmESt until 8:24am EST tomorrow morning when it changes signs….

(Sat 3/7)- The Moon will transition into proud Leo (exact at 8:24am EST). Good activities to do when the Moon is in Leo are: anything to do with performing or theater, seeing a show, dressing up & looking nice, managing, feeling proud, entrepreneurial endeavors, gambling, playing games, routing for the underdog and taking care of children. Things to avoid are: being too bossy, acting egotistical, and going "over the top".

The Moon will form an annoying quincunx Mercury in Aquarius (exact at 4:46am EST). Remember quincunxes usually present a problem that we are supposed to learn from, usually in the form of an obstacle. The Moon rules over emotions and Mercury communication and thoughts. We may have trouble reconciling the two or we may have to face a problem that highlights these areas. Most likely we will feel torn. Then the Moon will quincunx Pluto again (exact at 1:34pm) just like it did on Tuesday. Please refer to those notes.

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
