Astro-Update: Full Moon in Virgo! Week of 3/08/09

Happy Day Light Savings Time! This week two planets move into the dreamy sign of Pisces (Mercury on Monday and Mars on Saturday). As of Saturday, Pisces will be the dominant sign with a total of 4 planets in that sign. We are shifting away from Aquarius that was more concerned about the greater good. Pisces more is concerned with individuals and how they are feeling. Tuesday will be the Full Moon in Virgo with an emphasis on healing & organization. We are still dealing with Venus going Retrograde in the planet that influences both love and finances. Again, we should be taking this time to reflect on what works and what doesn’t pertaining to these areas until 4/17.

I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than other planetary transits.

(Sun 3/8)- Day Light Savings-Time to Spring ahead! The Moon is still in proud Leo. We start off the day a little fuzzy with Mars conjuncting Neptune both in Aquarius (exact at 8:50am EST). This transit will make us crave more than just the normal day-to-day activities (which may feel more mundane than usual). On the positive, this is a great transit for creativity, art, film, photography, music, intuition, and abstract thinking. On the negative side, it can create problems with motivation and enhance escapism tendencies. This theme will be further enhanced when Mercury (ruler of communication, thought process and transportation) moves into dreamy Pisces (exact at 2:56pm EST). The planet Neptune is the natural ruler of the sign of Pisces.

A little later, the Sun in Pisces will oppose Saturn in Virgo (exact at 3:53pm EST) further aggravated by the Moon making an annoying quincunx to the Sun (exact at 4:06pm EST). This can lead to frustration with obtaining or pursuing goals. Someone in authority could stand in the way of something you want. Certainly having trouble with getting organized will be a problem. This transit can present a problem for folks with a predisposition to depression or feeling sorry for oneself. This is not a good day for work and would be better spent playing, meditating, cooking, getting out in nature (especially by water), napping, or really anything that allows your inner creativity to flourish.

(Mon 3/9)- There will be 3 Moon oppositions today. Oppositions are usually an area where adjusting and compromise are needed because the energies are opposing. In the very early morning the Moon in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 2:56am EST), that will continue yesterdays nebulous Neptune’s “fuzzy” theme. This can also produce some interesting dreams, so pay attention to what you dream about on this night. Then the Moon in Leo will oppose Mars in Aquarius (exact at 3:56am EST). This can indicate a situation where someone’s actions might hurt your feelings or cause irritation on Monday morning.

We start off the day with a void of course moon cycle between 3:57amEST until the Moon shifts into perfectionist sign of Virgo (exact at 11:34am EST). (When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it won’t pan out.) Words and phrases to describe Virgo are: “I Analyze!”, Mutable/Earth, detail oriented, perfection, service, criticism, conscientious, health, intelligent, analytical, worry, improvement to others lives, and practical. It is associated with the abdominal area, gastrointestinal system (large and small intestines), spleen, solar plexus, and lower lobes of the liver. All of these themes will be prominent in the next 2 &1/2 days. We will find ourselves having to make another comprise based on what some else says/thinks when the Moon in Virgo makes it’s 3rd opposition to Mercury in Pisces (exact at 2:10pm EST). The Moon does make one easier/flowing trine to Pluto in Capricorn later in the afternoon (exact at 4:49pm EST). It is possible that someone will come to you for advice and all aspects of counseling are favored. This transit helps to cut through red tape and gets to the bottom of things.

(Tues 3/10)- In the afternoon the Moon in Virgo will make two annoying quincunx’s; 1st will be to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 12:36pm EST) and the 2nd will be to Venus in Aries (exact at 1:10pm EST). These transits tell us to keep our expectations in check with regard to love and finances (wait for tomorrow for luck in those areas). Right after, Mercury in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 1:38pm EST) taking our analytical skills to an all time high. The possibility for cathartic, in-depth discussions is also favored. A little later, the Moon will conjunct Saturn in Virgo (exact at 6:26pm EST) making it possible for us to harness discipline and organizational skills. This is actually a favorable day to start a diet or health regime.

Lastly, the Full Moon will occur this evening! The Full Moon in March is called the Storm Moon because of the crazy weather that March is known for (it’s also called the Seed Moon, Moon of Winds or the Crow Moon). The height will be at 10:38pm EST and it will also oppose the Sun in Pisces at the same time. The Full Moon is not usually a time where you would want to start anything new, but is more of a time of reflection. It is considered to be a culmination of your efforts that you made since the last New Moon. There is often a lot of energy & intensity associated with the Full Moon. Because of the opposition with the Sun, it can make us feel a strange disconnect with our intuition. The lesson in this is to combine both intuition and logic to come up with an answer to our questions. All forms of healing are favored with this Full Moon!

(Wed 3/11)- Overnight the Moon will oppose Uranus (exact at 1:48am EST) possibly causing disruption with sleep and vivid dreams. The Moon will then be void of course until 2:46PM EST when it moves into the sign of diplomatic Libra. Words and phrases to describe Libra are: “I Balance!”, Cardinal/Air, fairness, beauty (did I say Beauty?), partnership, aesthetics, harmony, indecision, dependence, fickle, and gracious. Libras make great judges because they are often able to see both sides. Creativity in your life! Its physical associations are: the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands. All of these themes will be accentuated during the next 2 ½ days.

Before that though, Venus (retrograde) in Aries will make a positive sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 8:34am EST). The possibility of good fortune with both love and finances are the benefit of this transit! I don’t generally advise that people gamble, but if you were to, this would be the time to do it (and no, I am not responsible for loss-LOL). Good news coming from afar, romance, favorable legal dealings, and travel are also benefits to this transit. (Just remember, that because both the Moon is void-of course and Venus being Retrograde, I don’t want you to start anything new until after 2:46pm.) Later tonight and tomorrow morning keep discussion light, as this is not a beneficial time for major discussions, with a possibility that arguments may ensue.

(Thurs 3/12)- The Moon will quincunx Mercury just after midnight (exact at 12:24am EST) making it hard for us to express our feelings. We may also be overly sensitive and not be able to take criticism well. Later the Moon will oppose Venus (retrograde) in Aries (exact at 4:36pm EST). This is not a favorable time to shop, decorate, choose colors, get our hair styled, etc. We may pick out something we thought we liked and then later realize it was not that flattering. Right after, the Moon will make a flowing trine to Jupiter (exact at 5:40pm EST). While this generally makes us upbeat and optimistic, it can give us the propensity to over spend. Lastly, the Sun will conjunct Uranus in Pisces (exact at 9:27pm EST). We will feel the need to break out of our normal routines and do something different toady. Uranus is the planet of disruptions, surprises and unexpected events. Are you normally a rebel and buck against authority? This transit helps to make that easier, so that you won’t step on as many toes. Do something “crazy” that you normally wouldn’t do for yourself…..you have blessings from the planets!

(Fri 3/13)- We just had a Friday the 13th last month!?! Earlier in the day we may have some minor disruptions or annoyances because of the Libra Moon making an annoying quincunx with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 6:54am EST) and with the Sun (exact at 7:38 am EST). We should be feeling better when the Moon makes a flowing trine to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 11:14am EST). Although this placement can make us feel a little fuzzy, it will also enhance our intuition and love of romance. Just use caution with idealizing your object of affection too much. The Moon then makes another flowing trine to Mars in Aquarius (exact at 6:39pm EST). Your feelings and actions will be in-line with one another, making it possible to act on your feelings. This will also increase sociability. Hey, it’s Friday night-go hang out with your friends & acquaintances! Someone may lend a sympathetic ear to your problems. The Moon will be void of course from 6:39pm EST until 8:22pm EST when it then moves into intense Scorpio…….

(Sat 3/14)- Anything related to research, occult, detective work, self discovery, digging below the surface (both figural & literal), passion, mysteries, secrets, etc. are good to pursue during a Scorpio Moon. Things that are not favored or exacerbated during the Moon in Scorpio are: jealousy, anger, intensity, and surgery (it can delay healing time). Most of the Moon transits today will positively enhance the qualities of the Scorpio Moon. The only negative transit will be later when the Moon quincunxes Venus Retrograde (exact at 10:31pm EST), where we could experience some sort of obstacle with the object of our affection. We may even feel insecure about that persons affections being returned.

As I alluded to in this week’s intro, Mars in now moving into the sign of Pisces (exact at 11:20pm EST) where it will stay until April 22nd. There are now a total of 4 planets in the sign of Pisces. Mars is an action-oriented planet and is often associated with physicality, sex drive, who we are sexually attracted to, and ego. Activities associated with: arts, music, film, photography, solitude, helping the sick or downtrodden, charity work, giving, healing fields like nursing, nature/animals, being near or around water (as a friend pointed out to me plumbing problems-LOL), spirituality, ethereal pursuits, abstract thinking, communication, counseling, research, intuition and working behind the scenes. Some famous people with multiple placements of Pisces in their charts are: Albert Einstein, composer Maurice Ravel, Michelangelo, Elizabeth Taylor, Aidan Quinn, Glenn Close, Johnny Cash, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The negative side can be excessive solitude, escapism in all forms (including sleeping too much), alcoholism (bar tenders tend to have a lot of Pisces in their charts), depression, absorbing the pain of others, and being selfless to the point of others taking advantage of you. Again all of these themes will be felt more strongly during the next month……

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if your not into having a reading I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
