Astro-Updates! Venus into Libra & Mars into Leo! Week of 10/11/09

I hope this week’s Blog entry finds you well! This seems like a very active planetary week! On Sunday, Mercury will begin forming somewhat uncomfortable sesquisquares with the triple conjunction with: Jupiter on Sunday 10/11, Chiron on Wed 10/14, and Neptune on Thurs 10/15. The Sun will be finishing its beneficial trine with the triple conjunction (with Jupiter 10/10, Chiron 10/14, & Neptune 10/16) this week. On Monday, Mars will be forming a positive sextile with Saturn helping us to accomplish our tasks. Lucky Jupiter will be turning “Direct” after a 4 month Retrograde phase on Tuesday, helping us to move forward with our big projects. Beautiful Venus will be the major player on Tues, Wed, and Thurs (although Thurs she will make her most stressful transit with Pluto). Speaking of Venus, she will travel into her native sign of Libra on Wednesday. Mars will also be changing signs this week; into the sign of Leo on Friday. Saturday will be the most astrologically quiet days this week. Enjoy!

I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. The energy is usually felt more strongly during the time leading up to the height and then it slowly starts to dissipate after. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than planetary transits.

(Sunday 10/11/09)- There will be a total of 8 Moon transits today and 1 planetary transit. Four out of the eight will be beneficial; sort of a mixed bag today. Between 3:12am-2:35pm, the Moon in Cancer will be forming an annoying quincunx with the triple conjunction (Jupiter, Chiron, & Neptune (R)). Feelings may be intense and it is possible that we could get a bit carried away with our emotions around this time. It is best to work alone, because interactions with groups of people will be unfavorable. Someone could challenge your beliefs around this time. Our optimism or self-confidence may be a little low. This is not a time to rely on luck. Don’t worry, this will be temporary! Old pains or hurts may resurface. Try to be realistic and use caution with idealism. Sun in Libra will form an uncomfortable square with the Moon in Cancer (exact at 4:56am EST). So, toward Sat. evening and into early morning we may experience some tension between friends or loved ones. This won’t be conducive to feeling very supported. Sometimes this transit brings (minor) squabbles. Then, Mercury in Libra forms an uncomfortable Sesquisquare with Jupiter (R) in Aquarius (exact at 11:58am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Too much information (TMI)! This is a time where we could find others (or even ourselves) saying too much. If you ever had interests in other cultures, religions, law, marketing, publishing, and/or travel; it would be a great time to explore these subjects. Use caution with overconfidence and avoid embellishment of the facts. The upside is that we could be feeling fairly optimistic and will have a bright mental outlook.

In the afternoon, the Moon in Cancer will form a flowing trine with Uranus (R) in Pisces (exact at 2:20pm EST) helping us to step up to the plate and do the right thing, even though it may be somewhat unconventional. We could get sudden revelations around this time, so write them down! Technology (like computers), inventing, New Aged ideologies, and friendships are favored around this transit. The Moon will form a positive sextile with Venus in Virgo (exact at 6:43pm EST). It is likely that we could receive compliments on how we look or dress. It will be easy to interact with others. This transit is positive for both relationships/love and finances. Next, the Moon will form its monthly conjunction with Mars both in Cancer (exact at 9:03pm EST). As with most Mars transits, I usually will recommend some form of physical exercise (yes, that includes gardening, working on the car, housework, etc.). This can increase physical vitality & health (and passion too). It is important to properly channel the excess energy; otherwise arguments and nitpicking could result. Family and domestic activities will be prominent. Lastly, the Moon in Cancer will form a positive sextile to Saturn in Virgo (exact at 9:37pm EST). Time to tap into our inner discipline, organization and attention to details. This would also be a beneficial time to garden and/or connect with the earth. This will be the beginning of a 3+ hour void of course cycle that will last until early tomorrow morning when the Moon transitions into dramatic Leo. When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it has a decreased chance of working or will have delays.

(Monday 10/12/09)- Happy Columbus Day!! The Moon will transition into Leo (exact at 1:02am EST). Good activities to do when the Moon is in Leo are: anything to do with performing or theater, seeing a show, dressing up & looking nice, managing, feeling proud, entrepreneurial endeavors, gambling, playing games, routing for the underdog and taking care of children. Things to avoid are being too bossy, acting egotistical, and going over the top. All of these themes will be highlighted over the next 2 ½ days. The Moon in Leo will form an annoying quincunx with powerful Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 2:34am EST). Certainly this can bring up jealousy issues, power struggles, hidden fears, and obsessions. This transit could cause frustrations on blending work and family time (especially time with children). Then, the Moon in Leo will form a positive sextile to Mercury in Libra (exact at 6:43am EST). This will make us want to reach out to friends and family to chat. This transit helps with the flow of communication.

Lastly, Mars in Cancer will positively sextile Saturn in Virgo (exact at 4:51pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Mars wants to go, go, go and Saturn’s approach is slow & steady. Mars will give us the energy, but be prepared to be in it for the long haul. Try to be patient and take your time with handling the details; it will be worth the effort! Put your energy towards planning, family/domestic pursuits, finances, organization and goal setting. This is a good time to get things done!

(Tuesday 10/13/09)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm (I take my last reading at 5pm). This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount ($25.00 per ½ hour). They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call me for a time.

Overnight, the planet of Jupiter will turn “Direct” in Aquarius (exact at 12:34am EST), after being Retrograde for 4 months!! (Retrograde meaning: As all planets orbit around one another, they do so at different rates. Long ago Astronomers/Astrologers believed that the planets seemed to slow down and eventually reverse their orbit. This in fact, is an optical illusion caused by different orbit speeds, when viewed from Earth. This process is called a Retrograde in Astrology. In interpretation it means that the planet is somewhat weakened and the energies are harder to access). Jupiter (the traditional ruler of Sagittarius) rules over luck, optimism, expansiveness, religion (and spirituality), abundance, reversals in fortune, law, long distance/foreign travel, higher education, books, printing, publishing, marketing, horses, and really anything affecting the masses. Jupiter’s physical associations are: fat, tumors, pancreas, liver, plaque, cholesterol, hips, thighs, and insulin. Jupiter is considered to be the most beneficial planet in a chart. However, it is also associated with over-confidence, conceit, mass epidemics, extravagance, and fanaticism. Jupiter goes Retrograde every 9 months for a 4-month duration. Hopefully you took the time over the last 4 months to go back and heal old wounds or to deal with something in the past. It was not a great time to start something new. You would have felt that Retrograde period more strongly if you are (or if you have a lot of these signs in your chart) an: Aquarius, Sagittarius, Leo (by reflex), or if you were born with Jupiter Retrograde in your natal chart (like myself). Until now, the planets involved in the triple conjunction have been Retrograde. This is the 1st to go “Direct” and will be followed by Chiron on Nov 1st and Neptune on Nov 5th!

We start the day with the Moon in Leo making a stressful opposition with Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 6:06am EST). Sometimes this can zap our self-confidence. Conversely, we could also feel a little too confident and over state our abilities (possibly over promising). Just remember you won’t always feel this way and there are only so many hours in a day….it is OK to say no! Just after, Venus will form a conjunction with Saturn in Virgo (exact at 6:52am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Discipline and organization are required on all levels. This transit will be permeated by seriousness. This probably won’t be a time of busy social activities (especially since this will be highlighting the Mercury/Saturn conjunction that occurred last Thurs 10/8). The invites that you do get however, will most likely be from your oldest and dearest friends. If you are willing to put in the hard work around this time, you have the will to accomplish a lot! Any delays that are experienced will be for the better (but you might not feel that way at the time). This is an auspicious time for finances, business endeavors, strategizing, etc. This may be a good time to sit down with the boss (or with someone with authority over you) to hammer out long-term goals. They will appreciate your proactive attitude, which may benefit you financially. Just avoid confrontation with them at this time, since we may be more inclined to fight for what we believe is right. This will also be a beneficial day to garden or do yard work. Then, the Moon in Leo will make a positive sextile to the Sun in Libra (exact at 11:37am EST). This is an ideal time to be with friends & loved ones. This transit is conducive for feeling supported. Maybe it’s time to do something nice for your sweetheart breakfast?

In the afternoon, Venus in Virgo will positively sextile Mars in Cancer (exact at 2:31pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Wow, Venus the sign of love meets up with the planet Mars that influences physicality and sexuality! Needless to say we may be feeling friskier around this time! We will enjoy being social, so get out and enjoy the day! We will want to act on our feelings around this time. I always advise doing some sort of physical activity whenever Mars is involved because Mars’ energy will want to get out one way or another. This is also a good time to look within and find your “heart’s desire” whether that be a person, vocation, hobby or otherwise. Later, the Moon in Leo forms an annoying quincunx with Uranus (R) in Pisces (exact at 5:01pm EST). This is a time where someone around you may challenge tradition. You may also want to buck the system. An expected event or surprise could catch you off-guard. Lastly, Moon in Leo will form its monthly opposition with Neptune (R) in Aquarius (exact at 5:20pm EST) causing our imagination/creativity to soar. I wouldn’t make a big decision around this time. Especially since this will also enhance escapism (people with drug or alcohol issues will have trouble around this transit). If you are sleeping while this event occurs, it may be possible to have prophetic or “visitation” dreams around this time. This will start a 10+ hour void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until tomorrow morning when the Moon shifts into detail oriented Virgo.

Wednesday (10/14/09)- The Moon will shift into perfectionist Virgo (exact at 3:45am EST). Words and phrases to describe Virgo are: “I Analyze!”, Mutable/Earth, detail oriented, perfection, service, criticism, conscientious, health, intelligent, analytical, worry, improvement to others lives, and practical. It is associated with the abdominal area, gastrointestinal system (large and small intestines), spleen, solar plexus, and lower lobes of the liver. All of these themes will be prominent in the next 2 &1/2 days…. Mercury in Libra will form a slightly uncomfortable sesquisquare the “Wounded Healer” Chiron (R) in Aquarius (exact at 5:00am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Past memories may come flooding in around this time. Forgiveness (or the need to forgive) often accompanies this transit. Then, the Moon in Virgo will form a flowing trine to Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 5:20am EST). This will greatly assist us in processing our emotions and is beneficial for all types of counseling & cathartic experiences. It will be hard to be superficial around this time. Both Virgo & Capricorn are earth signs, so this is a good time for gardening or connecting with nature. A little later, the Sun in Libra will form a flowing trine with Chiron (R) (the Wounded Healer) in Aquarius (exact at 10:04am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. The Sun will be positively highlighting the super conjunction between Jupiter (10th), Chiron (today), and Neptune (14th). This is a great time to heal past hurts (especially with lovers and/or friends). We will be feeling positive about the future. Even if you have been feeling down lately, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. The remainder of the day will be relatively, astrologically quiet. As you can see there will be lots of healing opportunities today (either to heal or be healed…)

The planet Venus (ruler of love, art, beauty & finances) will travel into its native sign of diplomatic Libra (exact at 6:46pm EST). Words and phrases to describe Libra are: “I Balance!”, Cardinal/Air, fairness, beauty (did I say Beauty?), partnership, aesthetics, creativity, harmony, indecision, dependence, fickle, and gracious. Libras make great judges because they are often able to see both sides. Its physical association are the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands. Its metal is Copper. Stones: Quartz, Marble, Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Opal, and Rose Quartz. We just moved through a period of time when Venus was in the perfectionist sign of Virgo. We might have put our relationships with others under a microscope and been a little more critical than normal. However, with Venus in its native sign of Libra (it will be joining the Sun & Mercury also in Libra), love will be back in style! We will become more relationship oriented, diplomatic, and fair. Libra’s generally hate to be alone, and do much better if they are in a relationship or if they live with someone else (it does not have to have romantic ties). Therefore, if you are single, you may be thinking about connecting with another around this time. For couples in a relationship, it would be a great time to bring some romance back into the relationship. Libra is famous for its indecision they will often vacillate for a long time before finally making a decision. We may be more fickle with our love (or even financial) interests around this time. We won’t enjoy confrontation and may even tell small white lies to avoid it. Certainly we will have a deeper appreciation for love, art, and beauty over the next month! If you work in the arts or a job that requires creativity; then you may be “in the zone” right now. It depends where Venus/Libra falls within your chart in order to know how this will affect you on a personal level. Venus will transition into the passionate sign of Scorpio on 11/7/09.

Thursday (10/15/09)- Later in the day, the Moon in Virgo will quincunx Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 8:44am EST). This is a time where you could feel disconnected from the group. Someone could challenge your beliefs around this time. Our optimism or self-confidence may be a little low. This is not a time to rely on luck. Don’t worry, this will be temporary!

In the afternoon, Venus in Virgo will form an uncomfortable square with powerful Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 1:21pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. This one could bring love/passion up close and personal. It could take the form of sexual tension, teasing in the form of flirtation (remember those school days?), jealousy (an unhealthy form of passion), possessiveness, control issues, etc. Pluto brings intensity and there is a possibly of obsessing (or being too intense) about love/finances. Try not to engage in power struggles with our loved one or indulge in ultimatums (it would most likely blow up in our faces). We may be able to look below the surface and discover things about ourselves, others, or even our finances that we may have over-looked or not noticed previously. If the energies are harnessed properly, there could be true transformation in these areas. Then, Mercury in Libra forms a slightly uncomfortable Sesquisquare with Neptune (R) in Aquarius (exact at 4:58pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Be careful (especially) with business dealings around this transit. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! Review all fine print closely and if possible put off signing any contracts. We will want to idealize people/situations around this time. On the positive side: creativity, intuition, and imagination could be increased too. Later, the Moon in Virgo will make its monthly opposition to Uranus (R) in Pisces (exact at 7:33pm EST). This is not an ideal time to break from the tried and true. Even with the best of intentions to stick with details & organization, an outside event may steer you in a different direction. This could cause disturbed dreams and/or sleep (possibly inspirational or vivid dreams). Lastly, the Moon in Virgo will form an annoying quincunx with Neptune (R) in Aquarius (exact at 7:57pm EST). Neptune’s influence can cause us to be fuzzy and idealistic. It is therefore, not an ideal time to make bold moves and big decisions. It is possible that we may have trouble accessing our intuition around this time. If sleeping, it would be possible to have prophetic dreams.

Friday (10/16/09)- We overnight, with the Moon conjuncting Saturn both in Virgo (exact at 3:55am EST). This influence will have been felt late on Thurs into Friday morning. This is an all work no play transit. Best to concentrate on: work, organization, gardening/planting (connecting with nature in general especially soil, woods, & forest), and details. This would also be an ideal time to start a new health or exercise regime. Sometimes this can give us a feeling of loneliness or isolation (or even the blues). In the morning, the Moon will form a positive sextile with Mars in Cancer (exact at 6:18am EST). As with all Mars transits, I recommend doing something physical or exercising around this time (the energy will need a constructive outlet). Sexuality can be enhanced around this transit. Our feelings will be in alignment with how we act. Make sure to put your actions toward positive pursuits! This will start a very short void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until the Moon transitions into diplomatic Libra (exact at 6:29am EST). (Yes, now the Moon will join the Sun, Mercury, and Venus all in Libra!) Activities that are favorable during a Libra Moon are: fairness, beauty (did I say beauty?), partnerships, joint enterprise, aesthetics, harmony, graciousness, cooperation, justice, peace, and romance. Things to avoid are: indecision, dependence, fickle, and lying (to avoid confrontation). Libras make great judges and counselors because they are often able to see both sides. Its physical associations are: the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands. All of these themes will be accentuated during the next 2 ½ days. Then the Moon in Libra will square intense Pluto Capricorn (exact at 8:09am EST) possibly throwing a speed bump in our path. Someone could know how to push our buttons and really get under our skin. Luckily, the Moon in Libra will give us diplomacy (even when we need to politely put them in their place). Next, the Moon will conjunct Venus both in Libra (exact at 9:56am EST). We will want to experience love on a visceral level. This is a great time to: pamper ourselves, decorate, shop (because we will have an “eye” for things that look good), artistic endeavors, creativity, and be in the company of loved ones. Sometimes this transit can have us feeling a little indolent; it is actually a favored time for finances. All of this planetary activity before 10am!?!

Mars (The God of War) will be transitioning into the proud sign of Leo (exact at 11:32am EST). Since August 25th, Mars has been in the sensitive & introverted sign of Cancer. Our actions and our expression of anger, aggression, and ego will change dramatically! Words and phrases to describe Leo are: “I Will!”, Fixed/Fire, warm, kind, generous, actor/theater, drama, loyal, domineering, proud, dignified, egocentric, creative, gambler/speculation, honest, noble, love children (especially their own), and games. A lot of “larger than life” people are Leos. It is common for actors and performers to be Leo or have heavy Leo in their chart (Leo needs recognition-I believe that is why). Areas of the body associated with Leo are the heart, gall bladder, & spine. Stones: Ruby, Onyx, Carnelian, Golden Topaz, and Tourmaline. Leo’s usually like to show their affections with gifts and bold declarations. We may want to get out and “play” more. We may go to shows, concerts, or other forms of entertainment. In fact if you are single, these would be good places to meet someone new. The symbol of Leo is the lion…and lions will roar if they are angered (or notice others being treated badly). People will tend to be more proud and ego driven around this time. However, Leo is notoriously warm and generous. Children (or pets that we consider our children) may be on our mind more during this time. It would be a great time to pursue a career or charity that benefits children. We may be more inclined to gamble or invest our money in speculative investments during this time (obviously if you have the funds, that’s great. If you don’t, then certainly use caution!). It depends where Mars/Leo falls within your chart in order to know how this will affect you on a personal level. Mark your calendars; Mars will be going Retrograde on December 20th 2009!

In the afternoon, Venus in Libra will form a slightly annoying sesquisquare to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 1:04pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. We will feel like being social around this time. However, we may make a small social faux pas, like wearing the wrong attire or calling the boss’s wife the wrong name. Avoid impulse buys around this time; it will cost you! You may have grandiose ideas about the direction of a love relationship. Then, the Sun in Libra will form an annoying quincunx with Uranus (R) in Pisces (exact at 2:36pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Quincunxes often represent a block, obstacle or delay. We may receive some unexpected news around this time. It may be difficult to act on this new information. There may also be small glitches with technology or travel. It’s possible that we may just be restless around this time. Just remember that it is difficult to change everything at once, even if we are inclined to! We end the day on a high note, when the Sun in Libra will form a flowing trine with nebulous Neptune (R) in Aquarius (exact at 8:46m EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. All aspects of music, film, arts, creativity, abstract thought, dreaminess, intuition, escapism, and idealism will be highlighted. This is a good time to follow your gut feelings, as intuition will be high. We might be more introspective, meditative or contemplative. Serendipitous moments abound! Being near water may be soothing and regenerative. We may suddenly feel attracted (romantically) to a friend or a friendship could become a more spiritual connection.

Saturday (10/17/09)- At last, a quiet day! The Moon will make 5 transits today (4 out of the 5 will be positive). Just remember that Lunar transits are shorter lived than planetary ones. Overnight, the Moon will conjunct Mercury both in Libra (exact at 1:22am EST) assisting with communication, short distance travel and feeling supported by others.

Then, (between 12pm-11:27pm EST) the Moon in Libra will form a beautiful trine with our super triple conjunction (Jupiter, Chiron, & Neptune). This will stir-up some of the good feelings that we experienced yesterday with the Sun/Neptune conjunction. This is a good time to focus on manifesting abundance, spirituality, intuition, and healing. Next, the Moon forms an annoying quincunx with Uranus (R) in Pisces (exact at 10:57pm EST). This is a time where someone around you may challenge tradition. You may also want to buck the system. An expected event or surprise could catch you off-guard.

Overnight (early Sunday), the New Moon in Libra will occur at 1:33am!!

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if you’re not into having a reading I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
