Astro-Update! New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Capricorn! Week of 12/27/09

I hope this week’s blog entry finds you well! On Monday, the Sun will form a beneficial conjunction with lovely Venus helping us in the love department. On Tuesday the Moon will positively sextile the triple conjunction (Chiron, Jupiter, and Neptune) assisting with manifestation. On Wednesday, Uranus will be aspected by two planets, Saturn will turn Retrograde, and the Moon will highlight the Saturn/Pluto square (complex day!). Thursday and Saturday will be the two most astrologically quietest days of the week. On Friday, the New Moon will take place in business-oriented Capricorn and will be super-charged with a Solar Eclipse. Also on Friday, Mercury will turn Direct (certainly one of the events that I can’t wait for!). Enjoy your week!

Current Retrograde Planets:

Please reference the Blog entry on the date the planet went Retrograde for an explanation.

Mercury in Capricorn 12/26/09-1/15/10

Mars in Leo 12/20/09-3/10/10

Saturn in Libra 1/13/10-5/30/10

I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. The energy is usually felt more strongly during the time leading up to the height and then it slowly starts to dissipate after. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than planetary transits.

(Sunday 1/10/10)- Just after midnight, the Moon in Scorpio will form a flowing trine with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 12:29am EST) helping us to step up to the plate and do the right thing, even though it may be somewhat unconventional. We could get a sudden revelation in our dream state tonight, so write them down! Technology (like computers), inventing, New Aged ideologies, and friendships are favored around this transit. Next, the Moon in Scorpio forms an uncomfortable square with Chiron in Aquarius (exact at 1:04am EST). Past issues may resurface at this time. If you are sleeping while this occurs, you may dream about the past. It may be possible to run into someone that will tell you how to do something (even if they have never done it themselves….annoying! The Moon in Scorpio then forms an uncomfortable square with Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 3:22am) telling us to not believe everything we are told. Illusion, escapism and deception will be prevalent. On the positive side, creativity will be high around this transit. This is another transit that can affect our dream-state tonight. Next, the Moon in Scorpio will form an uncomfortable square with Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 10:02am EST). Someone could challenge your beliefs at this time. It’s possible that you could find out someone within your group has been acting behind your back or is at odds with the greater good. Dealings with groups of people or legal matters are unfavorable around this time. This will also start a 3+ hour void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until tomorrow when the Moon transitions into adventurous Sagittarius. When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it has a decreased chance of working or will have delays.

The Moon transitions into the sign of adventurous Sagittarius (exact at 1:10pm EST). It is said in Astrology that the Lunar transition between Scorpio and Sagittarius is the most stressful of all the Moon transitions. So use caution around this time and allow for (minor) setbacks. Activities that are favored during Moon in Sagittarius are: sports, horseback riding, outdoors/nature, spiritual aspirations, higher consciousness, honesty/bluntness, law/legal, higher learning, education, travel (especially international), and getting out to meet people. It is best to avoid taking too strong of a stance and not being open to others opinions, as people will usually defend their beliefs rigorously at this time. These themes will be prevalent for the next 2 ½ days. Lastly, the Moon in Sagittarius will form a positive sextile to Saturn in Libra (exact at 10:07pm EST). Time to tap into our inner discipline, goal setting, organization and attention to details. We may want to make long term plans in our close relationships.

(Monday 1/11/10)- In the afternoon, the Sun will make its annual conjunction with beautiful Venus both in the sign of Capricorn (exact at 4:06pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t looking forward to this one! This is beneficial for both love and money. We may be focused on our heart’s desire right now…which may be a person, vocation, material object, etc. The Sun tends to make us a little ego-centric and we may be only thinking about ourselves and not how we affect others. Because of Capricorn’s association, this will be an especially auspicious time for work/business. The only caveat is that we may just feel like taking the day off or getting a massage instead! The air may smell a little crisper today and the birds may be chirping just a little louder. Take the time to recognize the beauty that exists in this world and within each and every one of us. Lastly, the Moon in Sagittarius will form a flowing trine with Mars (R) in Leo (exact at 8:48pm EST). Our actions will be in harmony with how we feel. We may crave action around this time or have more energy. People will be inclined to fight for what they believe is right.

(Tuesday 1/12/09)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get an “introductory” reading from me at a discount. They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington, VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call me for a time. The store’s number is #802-660-8060.

There will be all Lunar transits today and will be under the light-hearted influence of the Sagittarius Moon. Keep in mind that Lunar transits are shorter in duration than planetary transits. It starts with the Moon in Sagittarius uncomfortably squaring Uranus in Pisces (exact at 10:52am EST). This is a time where someone around you may challenge tradition. You may also want to buck the system. An expected event or surprise could catch you off-guard. It is possible to experience issues with technology or mechanical issues. Then, the Moon in Sagittarius will form positive sextiles (between 11:38am-9:43pm EST) with our super triple conjunction (Chiron, Neptune, & Jupiter). This will stir-up positive and maybe even idealistic feelings. This is a good time to focus on manifesting abundance, spirituality, intuition, and healing. The Moon in Sagittarius forms a positive sextile with (the “Wounded Healer”) Chiron in Aquarius (exact at 11:38am EST). You may be presented with an opportunity to heal or to be healed. Holistic and alternative medicine is especially favored. Serendipitous moments abound!

In the afternoon, the Moon in Sagittarius forms a positive sextile to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 1:52pm EST) causing our imagination/creativity to soar. This transit is also beneficial for daydreaming, idealism, intuition, romance, music, poetry, abstract ideas, mysticism, etc. It is possible to be more charming around this transit. Anyone have rose-colored glasses? Later, the Moon in Sagittarius makes a positive sextile with Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 9:43pm EST) helping us to feel optimistic and/or lucky. This is an ideal time to be with friends or to work with a group of people. It is also beneficial for spirituality/religion, higher or continuing education, horses, law/legal matters, advertising, sales, and publishing. This will start a short 2+ hour void-of-course Moon cycle that will last the Moon changes into traditional Capricorn. Use this time to finish old projects. Lastly, the Moon changes into business-oriented Capricorn (exact at 11:54pm EST). Capricorn Lunar themes that will be prevalent over the next 2 ½ days are: business endeavors, work, goal setting, drive, public ambition, and tradition. Try to avoid: workaholic tendencies, coldness, and using people for personal gain.

(Wednesday 1/13/10)- There will be a lot of “strong” planetary activity today. Uranus will be aspected by both the Sun and Venus today. Uranus rules over unexpected surprises, electricity/technology, uniqueness, shake-ups, and accidents. Then, the Moon will be conjuncting both Pluto and Mercury….also highlighting the Saturn/Pluto square. Even though some of these transits individually won’t be negative, I wonder about the events on this day because the energy is so potent. We may hear of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other unexpected events. You may hear people saying….”oh, it must be a full moon”. The poor Full Moon gets blamed for everything! To add to the mix, Saturn will be turning retrograde.

Early in the morning, Venus in Capricorn will form a positive sextile to Uranus Pisces (exact at 4:48am EST). Remember, all of these are planetary transits and their effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Routine is so boring! Desire for independence and freedom. Looking for your muse? If you are single and looking for someone that is different from the usual types, then go out today! You might be up for anything that is progressive and new. Strange and unusual artwork or music may catch your attention. If you are in a relationship, take a break from your rut. Do something exciting with your partner! The Moon will highlight the Saturn/Pluto square again (see notes from 11/15/09). The Moon will be making its monthly conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn (exact at 7:23am EST) adding emotional intensity to the mix. This may help with insights pertaining to business and financial endeavors. Helping us to “pick up” on the undercurrent of a situation. This is also beneficial for therapy, cathartic experiences, passion, and ferreting out secrets. Next, the Moon in Capricorn will form an uncomfortable square with Saturn in Libra (exact at 9:11am EST). Luckily the duration of this event is short. Sometimes this can give us a feeling of loneliness or isolation. We may feel passed over or possibly not getting the recognition that we deserve. It is better to work on organization around this time.

Well, it is that time again! Saturn in Libra turns Retrograde (exact at 10:56am EST)!! It seems like it just entered the sign of Libra (on 10/28/09); how time flies!?! Saturn is the planet that rules: obstacles, delays, long-term goal setting, hard work, discipline, responsibility, father or authority figures, Karma, life lessons and building foundations. Saturn is the “ruling” planet of Capricorn, which also influences: knees, teeth, falls, chronic health problems (like arthritis), and the skeleton. While Saturn can create many obstacles, frustrations, and delays it can also bless us with great rewards (usually after much hard work). (Retrograde meaning: As all planets orbit around one another, they do so at different rates. Long ago Astronomers/Astrologers believed that the planets seemed to slow down and eventually reverse their orbit. This in fact, is an optical illusion caused by different orbit speeds, when viewed from Earth. This process is called a Retrograde in Astrology. In interpretation it means that the planet is somewhat weakened and the energies are harder to access). Saturn is a slow moving planet. It is in each sign for an average of 2 ½ years and is generally Retrograde for almost ½ of the year (140 days to be exact). It will start out being Retrograde in the sign of Libra and will travel backwards into the sign of Virgo for one last appearance…at least for 29 years! Words and phrases to describe Libra are: “I Balance!”, Cardinal/Air, fairness, beauty (did I say Beauty?), partnership, aesthetics, harmony, indecision, dependence, fickle, and gracious. Libras make great judges because they are often able to see both sides. Its physical associations are the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands.

Retrograde periods are a time of reflection and often present a time where lessons appear that we are supposed to learn from. A lot of our lessons will revolve around relationships and partnerships. Now is the time to examine; are we selfish, do we really know the true meaning of being a partner, do our relationships satisfy our needs, etc. People may be seeking more permanence in their relationships. Unfortunately this may also be a time where folks may call it quits in their relationships. There may be resurgence in reconciliations and/or the use of counselors, arbitrators & mediators will be increased. Speaking of the justice system (btw, the Tarot card association for Libra is Justice), I feel that there may some sweeping changes to laws under this influence. Our democratic system may come under scrutiny during this time. This is further complicated by the Saturn/Pluto square (that will last over 1 year). We have already seen some of its affects with terrorism (ruled by Pluto) and life-lessons (ruled by Saturn). As an example, the Christmas time failed plane bomb plot. The Sun has highlighted the square on 12/25 & 12/26. I am sure that we will see more of this sort of thing in the year ahead.

Whatever is not working during this time will leave our lives. Whatever is meant to stay will go through some sort of process (usually in the form of a test) and come out stronger than it was before. Remember the key word for Libra is BALANCE, and many of us will be tested on that level. If your life is out of balance and has been for a while, this may come to a breaking point during this time. If you don’t find a way to resolve this in a positive, constructive manner, than Saturn will provide the way (and it most likely won’t be the way you desired)….so it is best to address this issue ASAP! In order to know how this will affect you on a more personal level, you will need to know where in your birth chart Saturn/Libra falls. It will re-enter Virgo on April 7, 2010 (where we will have one last chance to re-visit the lessons that we have been enduring for the previous 2 ½ yrs one last time). Saturn then turns direct May 30th 2010, and returns to Libra on July 21, 2010.

The Moon will conjunct Mercury (R) both in Capricorn (exact at 11:35am EST) assisting with communication, short distance travel and feeling supported by others. It will be very easy to express feelings and emotions around this time.

Lastly, the Sun in Capricorn will form a positive sextile with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 1:42pm EST). Ready for some inspiration, excitement, or change? This could be a time that you will discover a new way to do something or break from old habits. You could meet someone that is creative (or unique) and could serve as your muse. Try to get out and enjoy nature, especially water. A good time to go with the flow…..you never know, something wonderful could happen!?

(Thursday 1/14/10)- I will be doing Astrology Readings at Candles & Creations between 3:30pm-5:30pm (I will take my last reading at 5:30pm). This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount. They are located at 150 Dorset St, Suite 301 South Burlington, VT (in the Blue Mall across from the University Mall). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call #802-660-8021 to ensure a time. Check out their link: http://www.candlesandcreations.net

This will be the most astrologically quiet day of the week. The Moon in Capricorn makes an annoying quincunx to Mars (R) in Leo (exact at 7:03am EST). Did you ever meet someone that says something that is completely different than how they actually act? For instance: you went out on a date, the person says that they had a fantastic time, and then they never called you? This type of disconnect (coming from yourself or coming from others) may be more pronounced around this time.

Later in the evening, the Moon in Capricorn will form a positive sextile with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 11:09m EST) helping us to break out of our rut and even do something that may be somewhat unconventional. Technology (like computers), inventing, New Aged ideologies, and friendships are favored around this transit. This could cause disturbed dreams and/or sleep (possibly inspirational or vivid dreams).

(Friday 1/15/10)- New Moon/Solar Eclipse! The New Moon will be at its height in the sign of Capricorn (exact at 2:11am EST). All of the Capricorn Moon themes will be highlighted/amplified. The New Moon is considered to be beneficial for new ideas, new projects, and manifesting. I personally like to do space clearing and meditating around this time. The New Moon is always accompanied by a conjunction with the Sun (also in Capricorn). This usually makes us feel connected & supported by loved ones. It’s easier to talk about our emotions during this transit. Then, to give this New Moon some extra zing, there will also be an Annular Solar Eclipse. Unfortunately, this will not be visible in the USA; however it is still felt on an astrological level. For more information about its path check out this web site: http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar-eclipse-january-15-2010.html. Eclipses are associated with transformation. It depends on where the Moon/Sun/Capricorn are located in your chart in order to know how this will affect you on a personal level. Then, the Moon will conjunct Venus both in Capricorn (exact at 4:02am EST). We will want to experience love on a visceral level. This is a great time to: pamper ourselves, decorate, shop (because we will have an “eye” for things that look good), artistic endeavors, creativity, and be in the company of loved ones. Sometimes this transit can have us feeling a little indolent; it is actually a favored time for finances. This will start an 8+ hour long void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until tomorrow when the Moon changes into unconventional Aquarius.

Mercury in Capricorn Turns Direct today (exact at 11:52am EST)!! The temporary period of time that miscommunications and travel snafus run amuck, is now over. Unfortunately, it can take several days for Mercury to start traveling in a forward direction (it is Stationary right now), but this is certainly a step in the right direction! Hopefully you used the last three weeks to review and reevaluate what is working and what is not. Toward next week we should feel the cloud of confusion lift as we begin a new Mercurial Phase! Mark your calendars-Mercury will be going Retrograde again on April 18th!

In the afternoon, the Moon will transition into Aquarius (exact at 12:17pm EST). Activities that are favored during Moon in Aquarius are: social endeavors, friendship, technology, humanitarian efforts, politics, inventing, and New Age ideologies. Things to avoid: are getting too caught up in the greater good and masses that you forget the individual & their feelings, and being overly fixed in your own unique way of doing things that you can’t consider someone else’s good ideas. Lastly, the Moon in Aquarius will make a flowing trine to Saturn (R) in Libra (exact at 9:43pm EST). This is a great time for organization, house cleaning, filing, recycling, and being disciplined. This is also beneficial for starting a diet or health regimen (like quitting smoking). Sometimes others will ask for help around this transit, but it won’t be burdensome, we will be happy to assist!

(Saturday 1/16/10)- Today will be relatively quiet except for 1 (tense) Moon transit. The remainder of the day will be under the influence of Aquarius Moon.

In the evening, the Moon in Aquarius will form its monthly opposition to Mars (R) in Leo (exact at 6:13pm EST). Someone could irritate you during this transit. It’s possible to enjoy a debate with someone (or at worst, an argument). As with all Mars transits, I recommend exercise or doing something physical. Mar’s energy will want to get out one way or another; it might as well be constructive!

Mark your calendars! On Sunday (1/17) Jupiter will transition into the dreamy sign of Pisces after being in Aquarius for a year!

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if you’re not into having a reading, I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
