Astro-Update: Sun in Gemini! Week of 5/17/09

Hope this entry finds you well! On Sunday and Wednesday will be the most astrologically active days. Monday will be the quietest day astrologically speaking and will be more work oriented. On Wednesday the Sun will transition into the chatty sign of Gemini (The Twins). We will have an opportunity to wish our Gemini friends Happy Birthday over the next month. Friday will be an astrologically quiet day. On Saturday, Jupiter will conjunct Chiron. This will be the start of a complex triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune (attention to all healers!) that will last over a week!

I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. The energy is usually felt more strongly during the time leading up to the height and then it slowly starts to dissipate after. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than planetary transits.

(Sun 5/17)- Just after midnight, the Sun in Taurus will form a tense square with nebulous Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 1:05am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. We may have feel this Sat-Mon. Following along with Saturday’s theme, this is not a good time to make big decisions or to sign contracts. All aspects of escapism, music, arts, creativity, abstract thought, dreaminess, intuition, and idealism will be highlighted. People who suffer from drug & alcohol addictions often have troubles during this transit. This will be further enhanced when the Moon still in Aquarius makes its monthly conjunction with Neptune (exact at 3:15am EST). There will be multiple Moon transits while we are sleeping tonight. Pay attention to dream that you have during this time. They may provide valuable insights or may be prophetic.

We start the day with the Moon squaring Mercury (R) in Taurus (exact at 6:40am EST) possibly causes miscommunications early in the day. You may find that you are not be able to express yourself as easily or someone may cut you off from saying something. This will begin a void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until 10:17am EST when the Moon transitions into dreamy Pisces. When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it has a decreased chance of working or will have delays. Activities that are favored during Moon in Pisces: creativity, intuition, spiritual aspirations, higher consciousness, connection with feelings, counseling, music, art, photography, nature and especially being near water, and charitable work. Things to avoid are: getting so caught up in others feeling that you put your aside, excessive escapism, and acting like a martyr. These are all themes that will last the next 2 ½ days.

The Moon in Pisces will make a supportive sextile to Pluto (R) in Capricorn (exact at 3:52pm EST). This will be a favorable time to look below the surface and have in-depth conversations or counseling. Lastly, Mercury (R) in Taurus will form an uncomfortable semisquare with Venus in Aries (exact at 6:04pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Artistic and social endeavors are favored. The only caveat could be a foot-in-mouth situation or uncomfortable silences. Your idea of what is beautiful might not be the same as your friend/partner. Your friend may actually love that bright orange shag carpeting!

(Mon 5/18 )- This is an astrologically quiet day, with most of its energies being positive. The Sun will conjunct Mercury (R) both in Taurus (exact at 6:01am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Finally some clarity! If you have felt like you were in a fog for most of the weekend, this transit will help. Even though Mercury is still Retrograde, this will greatly assist in getting both communication & travel plans worked out. It will be easier to assimilate information. Writing, emailing, faxing….go for it! This can also be beneficial for finances, love, & beauty (art, design, fashion, etc.). In the afternoon, the Moon will oppose Saturn in Virgo (exact at 3:13pm EST). This event happens monthly. Saturn’s effects can be sobering; all work and no play. It is possible to feel a little down at this time and /or isolated from the crowd. Luckily it doesn’t last long.

(Tues 5/19)- I will be doing Astrological Readings at Spirit Dancer today between 2-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get an introductory reading from me at a discount ($25.00 per ½ hour). They are located at 125 S. Winooski Ave in Burlington, VT (across from the fire station). Walk-ins are welcome or you can call me for a time.

The Moon will form its monthly conjunction with Uranus both in Pisces (exact at 11:55am EST). The Uranus connection can bring us unexpected inspiration/ideas & can enhance clairvoyance & channeling. This can be highlight technology, electricity, inventing, and unexpected events. Due to Pisces’ influence it can also assist healing and healing arts. In the afternoon, the Moon will form a positive sextile to Mercury (R) in Taurus (exact at 1:39pm EST). This will make us want to reach out to friends and family to chat. This transit helps with the flow of communication. The Moon will make another positive sextile to the Sun in Taurus (exact at 5:43pm EST) helping us to feel supported by others. It’s nice to receive credit for our hard work! This will start a 2 hour void-of-course cycle that will last until the Moon transitions into adventurous Aries at 7:30pm EST. Aries Moons are similar to New Moons. It is considered to be a favorable time to start new projects, physical activities (like sports or working out), dynamism, leadership, competition, and action. Things to avoid are being too bossy, arrogant, and insensitive during the next 2/12 days. Aries rules the head, so pay attention to stress, especially of you are prone to tension headaches.

Wed (5/20)- Happy Birthday Gemini! I am not going to explore all of the Moon transits that will be occurring on this day. There will be 6 total, and 5 out of the 6 will be unfavorable. Therefore, emotions & sensitivity may be high today. There will be also be a multitude of Mercury transits. This will be a mentally stimulating day. If you begin to feel overly scattered or unfocused the best thing to do is to get out of your head and do something physical. Even if you only have 5 minutes to take a short walk. Hyperactivity may be heightened also (sorry for all the parents out there-get the kids to the playground!).

We start the day with Mercury (R) in Taurus forming an uncomfortable square with Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 5:21am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Be very careful (especially) with business dealings today. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! Review all fine print closely and if possible put off signing any contracts. We will want to idealize people/situations around this time. To put it bluntly, we could be more susceptible to manipulation or someone fibbing to get their way. On the positive side: creativity, intuition, and imagination could be increased too. Just after, Venus in Aries will make an annoying quincunx with Saturn in Virgo (exact at 7:43am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Quincunxes usually present themselves in the form of a block or obstacle. Attaining long-term goals, finances, and relationships may feel strained around this time. Definitely not a time to rush into things without tending to all the fine details. We may feel shy or hindered in expressing love or with our romantic feelings. Another possibility is that we may want to put our relationships into a category, but remember that emotions don’t always need to make sense! In the afternoon Mercury (R) in Taurus will square the “Wounded Healer” Chiron in Aquarius (exact at 4:00pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Past memories may come flooding in around this time. Forgiveness (or the need to forgive) often accompanies this transit.

The Sun will transition into the communicative sign of Gemini (exact at 5:51pm EST). So make sure you say Happy Birthday to all of your Gemini friends and family over the next month! Words and phrases to describe Gemini (ruled by Mercury) are: “I Think!”, Mutable/Air, communication, writing, media, talking, duality (the “twins”), diversified interests, “jack of all trades”, travel, shallowness, witty, quick, intellect, multi-tasker, gossip, designer, nervousness, moodiness and chatty. The body parts it’s associated with are: hands, arms, shoulders, nervous system and lungs. Its metal is Mercury. Stones: Agate, Citrine, Moonstone, Pearl, Howlite, and White Sapphire.

The Sun in Gemini will form an irritating semisquare with the Moon in Aries (exact at 10:56pm EST). So, toward the evening we may experience some tension between friends or loved ones. This won’t be conducive to feeling very supported. Sometimes this transit brings (minor) squabbles. Lastly, Mercury (R) in Taurus will form an uncomfortable square to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 11:44pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Good old Mercury in Retrograde affecting communication once again?! It’s possible to experience over optimism or even grandiose ideas with this transit. Try to stay away from embellishment and stick with the facts. This would be a good transit if you were a salesperson (advertising, marketing, etc) because you could easily convince others to buy into your endeavors. The only caveat to this is that you may over-promise and not be able to produce….so again stick to the facts. What a day!

(Thurs 5/21)- Just after midnight Mercury (R) in Taurus continues its trend and forms a positive sextile to Uranus in Pisces (exact at 2:46am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. This will set the stage for surprising insights and ideas on new ways to do things. If this event occurs while you are sleeping, pay careful attention to the dreams that you have on this night. They could be prophetic or contain some information that you may find helpful. This transit increases clairvoyance and channeling. Exchange of thoughts and information may come at lightening speed around this time. You may not need much caffeine in the morning to feel awake! In fact, I would use caution with all stimulants around this time (and that includes sugar)….as we could be feeling downright jittery without much assistance! As if this weren’t enough, the Moon will form its monthly conjunction with Mars both in Aries (exact at 11:21am EST). Talk about energy? As with most Mars transits, I usually will recommend some form of physical exercise (yes, that includes gardening, working on the car, housework, etc.). This will help to properly channel the excess energy. Otherwise, arguments and nitpicking could result.

The Moon will form a positive sextile to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 5:56pm EST) assisting us in feeling optimistic and upbeat. This is an ideal time to work with groups of people. It also highlights/benefits: travel (especially long distance), other cultures, higher education, law, horses, and spirituality. Lastly the Moon will form a positive sextile to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 6:36pm EST) increasing our creativity and imagination. This transit highlights/favors: intuition, music (the arts in general), film, spirituality, nature/animals, and abstract thoughts/ideas. Some find it beneficial to be near water during this transit. While this increases our dreaminess, it in not an ideal time for big decision making or signing contracts. We have the ability to be more charming when Neptune is smiling upon us. This will start a long void-of-course Moon cycle that will last until just after midnight……..

(Fri 5/22)- The Moon will transition into the stabile sign of Taurus (exact at 12:40am EST). Positive Taurus Moon activities are: focusing on organizing your finances, clipping coupons, decorating, designing, sensuality, cooking & eating luscious foods, organizing your home, massage, singing, and comfort. Try to avoid: laziness, relaxing too much, stubbornness, obstinacy and being too stuck in your ways. These will be the Lunar themes over the next 1 ¾ days.

The Moon in Taurus will make a flowing trine to regenerative Pluto in Capricorn (R) (exact at 5:22am EST). Even though the height of this will occur while we are sleeping, we will feel its effects for most of morning. All aspects of counseling, insight, and deep psychological processes are favored during this time. This would be a beneficial time for business, planning, and finances too. In the afternoon, the Sun in Taurus will make an awkward semisquare to Venus in Aries (exact at 3:43pm EST) influencing us to question love and finances. This would not be an ideal time to make purchases (especially big ones). What we value may be tested. Although it is a good time to be with friends and loved ones, try to avoid too much intensity. Demanding commitment now could backfire.

(Sat 5/23)- The Moon will make a flowing trine to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 1:50am EST). This is a great time for organization and being disciplined. I know that doesn’t sound like fun, especially on a Friday night! We start the day with optimistic Jupiter conjuncting Chiron (The Wounded Healer) both in Aquarius (exact at 10:18am EST). This will be the start of a complex triple conjunction between Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune that will be taking place over the next week. This is a time that real healing can take place. Spirituality, intuition, artistic endeavors, foreign travel/cultures, healing arts (especially alternative), and dream work, are all areas that will be highlighted by this triple conjunction. Mentors, guides, and teachers can come into our lives now. This is an ideal time to meditate and send out healing thoughts/prayers to our fellow brothers & sisters. This is also a good time to get involved with humanitarian efforts, social, or charity work.

In the afternoon, the Sun in Gemini will form an uncomfortable quincunx with Pluto (R) in Capricorn (exact at 1:55pm). This is a time where we may want to get deep and explore our subconscious but everyone around us wants to keep it superficial. We may feel passionate, but for some reason may not be able to express our passion. Quincunxes usually present an obstacle….but that doesn’t mean that we can’t get around the obstacle completely! The Moon will conjunct Mercury (R) both in Taurus (exact at 5:47pm EST) assisting with communication, short distance travel, and feeling supported by others.

Around 8pm the Moon will transit 3 planets: Uranus in Pisces (exact at 8:06pm EST), Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 8:25pm EST), and Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 8:48pm EST). This is not a time conducive for serious thought. Luckily it’s Saturday night and would be a great time to get together with friends and family! Keep things light and have fun! A long void-of-course Moon cycle will start (exact at 8:49pm EST) that will last until the Moon transitions into Gemini (exact at 2:34am EST Sunday).

The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if you’re not into having a reading I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
