Hi! Hope this week’s Blog entry finds you well! On Tuesday our organizational skills will be high when the Sun trines Saturn. Old wounds may confront us on Wednesday. On Thursday Mercury will begin its 3-week Retrograde phase. It is not a good idea to purse new endeavors during this time. So use the beginning of the week for new pursuits. Lastly, the Full Moon in Scorpio will occur late Friday night.
I wanted to add a footnote to my entries. I include the time that a transit will be exact so that you can see when it waxes and then when it starts to wane. However, the effects are often felt sometimes even as long as a day or two. The energy is usually felt more strongly during the time leading up to the height and then it slowly starts to dissipate after. Keep in mind that Moon transits tend to last a shorter period of time than planetary transits.
(Sun 5/3)- I will be walking in the annual COTS (Committee On Temporary Shelter) walkathon today. It is a great cause! I have a link on the top right side of the Blog, if you would like more information on sponsoring me. Any (tax-deductible donation helps! (It may not surprise you astrology buffs out there that I have Scorpio on my 4th house!)
Just after midnight the Moon transitions into the perfectionist sign of Virgo (exact at 12:37am EST). Words and phrases to describe Virgo are: “I Analyze!”, Mutable/Earth, detail oriented, perfection, service, criticism, conscientious, health, intelligent, analytical, worry, improvement to others lives, and practical. It is associated with the abdominal area, gastrointestinal system (large and small intestines), spleen, solar plexus, and lower lobes of the liver. All of these themes will be prominent in the next 2 &1/2 days.
The Moon will go onto make an annoying square to Mercury in Gemini (exact at 2:28am EST). Ironically, the planet Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini. This transit will normally cause miscommunication, but with Mercury’s involvement it will be doubly so! So use caution in how you communicate with others on Sat night into Sun morning. The Moon will form a flowing trine to Pluto (R) in Capricorn (exact at 6:01am EST). This will greatly assist us in processing our emotions and is beneficial for all types of counseling. The rest of the day will be (astrologically) quiet.
(Mon 5/4 )- The Sun in Taurus will form a beautiful trine to the Moon in Virgo (exact at 1:02am EST). We would have felt the effects of this last night. It’s too bad the height of it will be taking place so late! This is beneficial for all kinds of relationships (especially with children) and assists in making us feel loved and supported. The Moon will make its monthly conjunction with Saturn (R) both in Virgo (exact at 3:07am EST). In the morning this transit will help us with organization and being to accomplish goals. Although, sometimes it may make us feel a little lonely or isolated. It is really best to work alone and focus on what you really want. In the afternoon, Mars in Aries will make an awkward semisquare with Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 1:38pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. Use caution with over spending, over confidence, and taking unnecessary risks with this transit. Place your energy (and you may plenty of it) into positive pursuits….just don’t go chasing rainbows either! Lastly, the Moon will make its monthly opposition to Uranus in Pisces (exact at 9:31pm EST). This is not an ideal time to break from the tried and true. Even with the best of intentions to stick with details & organization, an outside event may steer you in a different direction. This will start a long void-of-course cycle that will last until 5:51am EST tomorrow morning. When the Moon makes no major planetary aspects to another planet, before it switches into the next sign, is call “void of course”. It is best to not do anything new during these times because it has a decreased chance of working or will have delays.
(Tues 5/5)- Happy Cinco de Mayo! We start the day with a beneficial trine between the Sun in Taurus and Saturn (R) Virgo (exact at 5:34am EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. This transit gives us discipline and helps us to tackle projects. If there has been something that you have been avoiding (like an organizational) project, now is the time! There is a reason that Saturn’s nickname is the “task master”. This would also be an excellent day to start a diet or other health regime. It will help us to get along better with father figures or male authority figures too.
Shortly after, the Moon will transition into diplomatic Libra (exact at 5:51am EST). Activities that are favorable during a Libra Moon are: fairness, beauty (did I say beauty?), partnerships, joint enterprise, aesthetics, harmony, graciousness, cooperation, justice, peace, and romance. Things to avoid are: indecision, dependence, fickle, and lying (to avoid confrontation). Libras make great judges and counselors because they are often able to see both sides. Its physical associations are: the kidneys, lumbar area of the back, buttocks and adrenal glands. All of these themes will be accentuated during the next 2 ½ days. Then, the Moon in Libra will make a flowing trine to Mercury in Gemini (exact at 8:46am EST) assisting us to express how we feel. It will be much easier to speak with friends and loved ones during this time. The Moon will square Pluto (R) Capricorn (exact at 11:22am EST) possibly throwing a speed bump in our path. Someone could know how to push our buttons and really get under our skin. Luckily, the Moon in Libra will give us diplomacy (even when we need to politely put them in their place). Later in the afternoon, the Moon will form its monthly opposition to Venus in Aries (exact at 2:20pm EST). It’s not good to shop or decorate during this transit. Someone could offend your sense of good taste!
(Wed 5/6)- Just after midnight, the Moon in Libra will form its monthly opposition to Mars in Aries (exact at 12:54am EST). Someone could irritate you during this transit. It’s possible to enjoy a debate with someone (or at worst, an argument). The Moon will form an annoying quincunx with the Sun (exact at 11:21am EST) that will continue with this trend. It may be hard to feel supported around this time. The big planetary event today will be when Mars semisquares Chiron (the wounded healer) in Aquarius (exact at 1:05pm EST). Remember, this is a planetary transit and its effects will be felt much longer than a Moon transit. If channeled in a positive way, this could present a very real opportunity to heal old wounds. However, we may be so wrapped up in our own busyness that we hardly take the time to pay attention. This would be a disservice to your emotional well being, as these opportunities really present themselves. The short-term pain that may be experienced will just be part of the healing process.
(Thurs 5/7)- 5-7pm-I will be doing “mini-Readings” for the students at Champlain College. This is to help them celebrate “Senior Week” on the Spirit of Ethan Allen boat cruise. Please email or call me for information about events or parties!Well it is upon us, Mercury in Gemini goes Retrograde at 1:00am EST). Usually Mercury (The God of Communication & Transportation) goes Retrograde for 3 weeks, 3 times per year. 2009 is going to be unusual because it will go Retrograde 4 times this year! This will be #2. This Retrograde period will start in the sign of Gemini but on 5/13/09 will go back into the sign of Taurus. (Retrograde meaning: As all planets orbit around one another, they do so at different rates. Long ago Astronomers/Astrologers believed that the planets seemed to slow down and eventually reverse their orbit. This in fact, is an optical illusion caused by different orbit speeds, when viewed from Earth. This process is called a Retrograde in Astrology. In interpretation it means that the planet is somewhat weakened and the energies are harder to access).
We all feel the effects of this influence, but you will feel it more strongly if you are a Mercury-ruled person (Gemini & Virgo). Astrologically, this causes small things to happen that may be considered to be "bumps in the road". Mercury heavily influences technology (how we stay connected to others). So an example of this could be computers crashing, copiers breaking down or jamming, faxes not transmitting, etc. Communication is another thing affected by Mercury retrograde. It's a good idea during this time to save fax transmittal sheets, postal receipts, and documenting important conversations. Delays with travel can also occur because of miss-communications or breaking down of equipment (the plane landing in the Hudson took place during the last M.R.). Make sure you confirm all reservations and allow extra travel time. This is not a good time to start anything new or to sign contracts (like getting a loan, buying a car, etc). This is a good time to strategize and do your homework on projects that you may be planning.
On the up side (yes, there is an upside) this is an excellent time for the following: re-uniting, re-organizing, re-establishing, re-arranging, etc. Are you noticing a pattern? I personally, look to these 3 weeks as a good time to get filling done, finishing up tasks that I have been putting off, tightening up details, etc. I look forward to this time because it's excellent for re-connecting with people in general. This seems to be a time when people you haven't heard from just call "out of the blue" or you may "randomly" run into someone while out shopping. You can see that in business, this would be an excellent time to follow-up with past customers or clients. Just remember, if you are in a relationship, try to be understanding with your lover if you have a miss-communication.......these things will happen with Mercury retrograde, it's not the end of the world! We can all look forward to Mercury going "direct" again on Saturday, May 30th at 6:17am EST.
We start the day with the Moon in Libra making a flowing trine to Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 6:00am EST). Creativity will be high around this time. Pay attention to any dreams you may have had because they could be prophetic or emotionally significant. Unfortunately, nebulous Neptune could cause further confusion and have us spending the earlier part of the day with our head in the clouds. This will start a long void-of-course cycle that will last until 12:48pm EST when the Moon will transition into the sign of Scorpio. Favorable Scorpio Moon activities are: anything related to research, occult, detective work, self discovery, digging below the surface (both figural & literal), passion, mysteries, secrets, etc. Things that are not favored or exacerbated during the Moon in Scorpio are: jealousy, anger, intensity, and surgery (it can delay healing time). The Moon will form a quincunx to Mercury (R) Gemini (exact at 4:01pm EST) possibly causing (another) block in communication. I may be nearly impossible to express ourselves. You ever had a time that you couldn’t put your thoughts into words? We will end the day on a high note with the Moon forming a positive sextile with Pluto (R) Capricorn (exact at 6:27pm) helping us to connect with what is going on under the surface. Cathartic experiences, deep conversation, and all forms of counseling are favored during this transit.
(Fri 5/8)- We start the day with the Sun in Taurus forming an awkward sesquisquare with Pluto (R) in Capricorn (exact at 7:38am EST). Try to avoid compulsive behavior and power struggles early in the day (especially with business/work). Things won’t really relax as the Moon makes an annoying quincunx to Mars (exact at 12:06pm EST). Did you ever meet someone that says something that is completely different than how they actually act? For instance: you went out on a date, the person says that had a fantastic time, and then they never called. This type of disconnect (coming from yourself or coming from others) may be more pronounced around this time. Luckily, the Moon will form a positive sextile to Saturn (R) in Virgo (exact at 4:58pm) so that we can tap into our inner discipline & organization. I know it’s Friday, but this would also be a beneficial time to garden (connect with the earth) after work. We may start to feel this intensity of the Full Moon this evening…..
(Sat 5/9)- As promised, the height of the Full Moon will take place just after midnight (exact time 12:01am EST) in the sign of Scorpio. This may be a fairly intense Full Moon because of Scorpio’s influence. All of the Scorpio traits will be enhanced for better or worse. Full Moons are said to (energetically) be the culmination of our efforts over the last month. I personally like to take this time to meditate and send out prayers for humanity.
In the afternoon, the Moon will make an annoying square with Jupiter in Aquarius (exact at 12:04pm EST). Someone could challenge your beliefs at this time. It’s possible that you could find out someone within your group has been acting behind your back or is at odds with the greater good. Luckily, the Moon will form a flowing trine with Uranus in Pisces (exact at 1:12pm EST) helping us to step up to the plate and do the right thing, even though it may be somewhat unconventional. The Moon will form another annoying square with Neptune in Aquarius (exact at 2:48pm EST) telling us to (again) not believe everything we are told. On the positive side, creativity will be high around this transit. This will start a long void-of-course cycle that will end when the Moon transitions into the sign of adventurous Sagittarius tonight (exact at 9:49pm EST). It is said in Astrology that the transition between Scorp and Sag is the toughest of all the Moon transition. So use caution around this time and allow for (minor) setbacks. Activities that are favored during Moon in Sagittarius are: sports, horseback riding, outdoors/nature, spiritual aspirations, higher consciousness, honesty/bluntness, law/legal, higher learning, education, travel (especially international), and getting out to meet people. It is best to avoid taking too strong of a stance and not being open to others opinions, as people will usually defend their beliefs rigorously at this time. These themes will be prevalent for the next 2 ½ days….
The above transits are often felt collectively but you would need to know where within your chart that they would fall. As always, I am available for a professional astrological reading. I now have a variety of charts to choose from (relationship, life path, time-line, etc). I can do readings in-person or over the phone. Or if you’re not into having a reading, I can just supply a chart. Please feel free to contact me for more information! Have a great week! Bye for now……
Peace & Light,
